BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Loop Media, Inc., a premium short-form streaming service that works seamlessly for both businesses and consumers, announced its launch today after operating in stealth for over two years. The company is led by a proven team of tech, entertainment and media industry veterans working to bring fans and artists closer together via a persistent streaming experience. Loop is co-founded by Jon Niermann, CEO (former President, Electronic Arts Asia and Managing Director, Walt Disney International Asia); Shawn Driscoll, Head of Music Industry Relations (former Executive Producer at Legends Studios in Burbank); and Philipp Pieper (current CEO, Swarm Fund, former Founder, Proximic [acquired by Comscore]). Other key managers include Aaron Burcell, COO (former VP of Growth and Product Marketing, Vevo); Liam McCallum, CPO (former Head of Digital, EA Asia); and Justis Kao, CCO (former Creative Director at Farwest Entertainment).
Loop improves the entire viewing experience for premium short-form content - including music videos, film trailers, game trailers and TV clips - by enabling real-time interactions between venues, artists and fans through the Loop Stick and Loop mobile app. Unlike existing streaming services, Loop focuses on the venues and consumers in the evolving frontier of digital out-of-home and provides complete transparency for artists to create and realize revenues from content streamed on devices both at home and in public venues.
“Loop plans to link in-home and out-of-home by entertaining consumers watching at home, on-the-go or in public venues with others. We’ll work with bars, restaurants, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines, stadiums and universities to make sure your Loop experience is available wherever possible,” said Niermann. “After years in stealth, we’re proud to finally launch what we believe is a game-changing proposition, made possible by a small but incredibly talented team of entertainment, media and tech leaders, artists and producers, with a vision for enjoying and sharing great short-form content.”
Niermann spent over 22 years at Disney and EA including stints overseeing the entire Asia-Pacific region for both companies. McCallum helped formulate and expand EA’s digital content strategy into online game platforms and the launch of the its first mobile games. Burcell is a longtime Silicon Valley operator, having worked at high-profile startups like WebTV (acquired by Microsoft), podcasting pioneer PodShow and music video giant Vevo.
Loop raised nearly $10 million in seed funding, catalyzed by Dianne Berry from Memphis, TN, and raised from a group of private investors based in California, Tennessee and Florida. Berry serves on Loop’s Board of Directors in addition to serving on various other boards and philanthropies following a successful career in finance, and is still actively involved with her MBA alma mater, Vanderbilt University.
Loop’s consumer app will be available later this year. To join the waitlist for early access, please visit loop.tv.
