Go Army! MCR Acquires the Residence Inn by Marriott near the United States Army War College

We’ve got spirit, yes we do: Just in time to kick off the Army-Navy football game December 8, the nation’s sixth-largest hotel owner-operator scores a touchdown in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

NEW YORK--()--MCR, the sixth-largest hotel owner-operator in the United States, has added a new quarterback to its starting lineup: the 78-suite Residence Inn by Marriott Harrisburg Carlisle five minutes from the U.S. Army War College.

In honor of the hotel’s proximity to the college — which provides graduate level instruction to military officers and civilians for senior strategic leadership roles — MCR is holding up a foam finger for the Army Black Knights in the highly anticipated 119th Army-Navy game on December 8, 2018. Played at Lincoln Financial Field in nearby Philadelphia, the match will air on CBS at 3 PM ET.

The Army Black Knights boast a 9-2 record this season and are projected by ESPN to clinch a victory. Archrivals the Navy Midshipmen are 3-9. Army’s squad will be wearing special, all-black uniforms celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Big Red One, the nickname for the WWI soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division.

One of college football’s most beloved traditions, the Army-Navy matchup dates back to 1890. Though the brave defenders fight till the last field goal on the gridiron, comradery rules the day: after the trophy is awarded, the squads sing each other’s alma maters and shake hands.

The City of Brotherly Love, hosting the Army-Navy game for the second year in a row, is a natural fit. Fans are invited to bunk at the Residence Inn by Marriott Harrisburg Carlisle’s sister property in Langhorne, just 32 miles from Lincoln Financial Field.

Back at the Residence Inn by Marriott Harrisburg Carlisle, the game will be playing on TV screens in the couch-filled lobby, where free breakfast and Wi-Fi are also offered.

“We are proud to serve families of the Army leaders studying at the 500-acre Carlisle Barracks,” says Tyler Morse, CEO and Managing Director of MCR and MORSE Development. “This weekend, our Residence Inn hotel staff will be cheering for our boys in black.”

The Residence Inn by Marriott Harrisburg Carlisle is located at 1 Hampton Court and features:

  • 78 pet-friendly suites with fully-equipped kitchens
