King Children Launches to Deliver 3D-Printed Customized Eyewear That Embraces the Diversity of Every Face

Using Apple’s True Depth hardware, customers can design glasses uniquely tailored to their facial features and personal styles for an effortless fit

NEW YORK--()--King Children, the new eyewear brand that creates custom frames to embrace the diversity of every face, today announces its company launch, taking an inclusive and thoughtful approach to durable eyewear that celebrates everyone’s unique features. Users can design frames with their desired colors, shapes and lenses for just $125. To date, King Children has raised $2 million in funding from leading investors, including Great Oaks VC, RBC Venture Partners, Gen Z Capital and Casper co-founder, Neil Parikh.

Available for download on iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, the King Children app uses Apple’s latest technologies, including Depth Control, to do 3D face scans with accuracy down to the millimeter.

Within the hyper-realistic virtual try-on experience, personalizations include size of frame, lens height, lens width, nose bridge, frame wrap, nose pad position, temple length and pantoscopic tilt. Shoppers can then choose between sun (UVA / UVB protection + polarization) or prescription and add a personal touch with an inscription up to 10 characters, all at no extra cost. An option to add Blue Block lenses is only an additional $30, which blocks out 98% of blue light. From there, glasses, which are extra-durable, scratch-resistant and anti-reflective, will be 3D printed and delivered in as little as two weeks.

King Children was founded by Sahir Zaveri (CEO) and Dave Lee (CTO), who have combined the latest in 3D printing and augmented reality innovation to bring customized products and a superior user experience that speaks to all genders, ethnicities and backgrounds. Today’s digitally native consumers prioritize wide product selection, availability, and co-creation with brands, and 55% of Gen Zers expressed they would like the ability to design products that no one else owns. King Children launches as a response to these trends, with the attainable price points rarely available with this high level of customization.

“Today’s one-size-fits-all approach overlooks millions of different facial features and structures representative of our world today. At King Children, we embody the values of diversity, inclusivity, creativity and self-expression a culture that embraces our community and our infinite differences,” says Sahir Zaveri, co-founder and CEO. “With King Children, we treat all faces equally. Every pair of frames created is the only one that exists.”

“Our in-app experience harnesses technology beyond today’s norm in commerce, ensuring accuracy during 3D scanning and giving shoppers the capability to purchase and receive their designs right then and there,” says co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Dave Lee. “We wanted to create something for the modern shopper that is as simple as using a filter on social media, and delivers every piece of customization and quality they’ve been craving for a truly collaborative design process.”

King Children also unveils its King Children Residency program, providing a platform for creatives (artists, musicians, dancers, painters and more) by supporting their projects and fostering connection among a vast creative community. At launch, the King Children network includes Ezinma, Baby Yors and Dan Huston, amongst many others who share the company’s values of inclusivity and self-expression. This ongoing initiative will be open to people of all backgrounds and artistries — meant to inspire King Children's young customer base and celebrate their evolving styles, starting with eyewear.
