Mississippi’s Government Citizen Platform Receives Top Honor for Emerging Technology

MyMississippi recognized with Emerging & Innovative Technologies award from the National Association of State Chief Information Officers

JACKSON, Miss.--()--The State of Mississippi’s MyMississippi personalized citizen platform was selected as an award recipient in the Emerging & Innovative Technologies category at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers’ (NASCIO) 2018 State IT Recognition Awards.

Recognition awards are given annually to honor innovation and excellence in the use of information technology in state government. This year, the NASCIO Awards Committee selected only 12 award recipients from among 31 finalists and over 125 total award nominations.

"The MyMississippi platform was created to make government interaction as effortless as possible by furthering engagement and customization on ms.gov for citizens, and it has done just that,” said Dr. Craig Orgeron, Executive Director of Mississippi Information Technology Services and State of Mississippi Chief Information Officer. "We are very proud of the entire ms.gov team and their continued accomplishments. The award is well deserved and is a great honor.”

Introduced in May 2015, MyMississippi has continually evolved as the companion platform to the award-winning State of Mississippi’s official website, ms.gov. The citizen-focused platform features:

  • Ask Mississippi – Amazon Alexa and Google Home products can be utilized to access myMS alerts and reminders, as well as receive a wealth of Mississippi government info.
  • MISSI – The state of Mississippi’s first chatbot, serves as ms.gov’s main citizen-focused communication channel.
  • If This Then That (IFTTT) connects data across services and devices to create powerful data tools to aid how government and citizens interact digitally.
  • myTacks – myTacks allows visitors to drag links important to their government experience to a vault to save for quick future reference.
  • myReminders – Visitors can subscribe to top government agency reminders or customize their own using the myMS widget.
