Tampax tapped into 80+ years of period protection expertise, research with hundreds of women, and knowledge from experts like a practicing OBGYN to create a menstrual cup that doesn’t require women to settle for good enough for one week every month.

“For years, I’ve heard from my patients about how they want to try menstrual cups, but the options available just didn’t meet their needs – they didn’t feel secure, put pressure on their bladders or just were simply uncomfortable to wear,” said Dr. Megan Kessler, practicing OBGYN and collaborator on the Tampax Cup. “I was excited to partner with Tampax, and leverage the brand’s vast knowledge and resources to create something to meet these needs. Based on our research together, including multiple consumer-use tests, clinical tests, MRI imaging, and real-life tests with women trying the cup, we were able to understand how the smallest details can make a huge difference in the cup’s design and experience for women overall.”

While menstrual cups have existed for decades, more women are considering cups as part of their period routines, yet many still feel like current options don’t meet their protection and comfort needs. Conversations with hundreds of women found that many are settling for a good enough menstrual cup experience and compromising on must-haves like comfort and protection. Clinical research also showed that most menstrual cups available today are longer than the average woman’s vagina or put unnecessary pressure on women’s bladders. Available at select retailers nationwide, the cup will come in two sizes, Regular Flow and Heavy Flow. A starter pack with both sizes will also be available so consumers can discover which size would fit them best at different points during their cycle.
