SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HGN Games today launched a Kickstarter campaign for its newest board game: #POTUS: Battle Inside the Trump White House. HGN Games teamed with game designer Thomas Prowell on the new 2-4 player card-driven strategy game, which satirizes White House political infighting.
“The political backdrop of 2017 was perfect fodder for a great board game. The showdowns, factional infighting and threats of criminal indictment within the Trump White House created the mechanics for a game where the player can enter the fray, fight for control and simply have fun,” Prowell said.
Make America Game Again
#POTUS is set during President Trump’s first year in office. Each player leads one of the four factions battling for supremacy inside the White House – the Establishment GOP, Nativist Nationalists, Globalist Plutocrats and the #Resistance. Each faction has their own unique deck of cards based on prominent players in Trump’s administration, such as Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus and John Kelly. The game uses a “trick-taking” mechanic (similar to Hearts or Bridge) to help players win control of Trump’s Twitter feed, vote on congressional bills, make business deals and enlist powerful allies.
Players must stay in power long enough to pass the bills they believe will help the country while avoiding the obstacles posed by their fellow Republicans (with their own agendas), Trump’s social media habit and the ticking clock of Mueller’s Russia Investigation.
“Whether you love Trump or hate him, #POTUS is meant to show everyone a good time while they’re playing what we believe is the next great political game,” said Jeff Newell, President of HGN Games.
#POTUS is the first game to debut under HGN Game’s “Fighting Factions” series, four-player games based around the battles of power politics. The #POTUS game also will get an expansion: #POTUS Year 2: Trump Unleashed!
