Mölnlycke Health Care Welcomes United States Senator Susan Collins of Maine to the Brunswick, Maine Manufacturing Facility

BRUNSWICK, Maine--()--Mölnlycke Health Care, a world-leading medical solutions company, welcomed US Senator Susan Collins (ME) to Mölnlycke’s manufacturing facility in Brunswick. During the visit, Senator Collins had the opportunity to meet with employees and also spoke with company leaders about jobs, the economy and healthcare.

Mölnlycke employs approximately 200 people across their Brunswick and Wiscasset factories. The Brunswick location opened in 2013 and is located on the former Brunswick Naval Air Station. It’s one of the most highly automated and efficient factories in the world for manufacturing dressings used in the management of wounds and pressure ulcer prevention: Mepilex®, Mepilex® Border and Mepilex® Border Flex.

“We are honored to host Senator Collins and her team at our facility and are proud of the fact that in Maine, we are manufacturing wound care dressings, backed by clinical evidence, that help to make life better for millions of people from the hospital to their homes,” said Rob Claypoole, President Mölnlycke US. “Delivering effective medical solutions that improve outcomes and offer better value is our focus. And we are grateful that Senator Collins has been an advocate for this with her efforts in healthcare.”

First elected in 1996, Senator Collins has earned a reputation as a legislator who works across party lines to seek consensus on our nation’s most important issues. She chairs the Senate Select Committee on Aging and the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, and also serves on the Intelligence Committee as well as the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Her work has impacted such areas as homeland security, national defense, disaster response, education, business development, healthcare, and issues of particular interest to our nation’s seniors.

“Maine is the oldest state in the nation by average age. As the Chairman of the Senate Aging Committee, I know the importance of Mölnlycke’s advancements in wound care to vulnerable populations recovering from surgery or injury,” said Senator Collins. “Mölnlycke’s cutting-edge Brunswick factory is proof that Maine’s manufacturing tradition is alive, well, and growing. It was a pleasure to visit this facility and speak with many of the Mainers who work here.”

Mark Olmstead, Vice President Government Affairs, Reimbursement and Health Economics for Mölnlycke, closed the meeting: “We thank Senator Collins and her staff for visiting with us and recognizing Mölnlycke’s interest to promote treatment and prevention of wounds that lead to better healthcare outcomes for patients in the US and worldwide.”
