Womply Launches BizShield to Protect Small Businesses From Online Threats to Revenue

Following limited pilot, a quarter-million small businesses are protected by Womply’s digital threat monitoring service

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Womply, the leader in front office software for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced the public launch of BizShield, an online threat monitoring service designed specifically for American small businesses.

The public launch comes after 250,000 small, brick-and-mortar businesses representing more than 400 consumer-facing industry categories enrolled in BizShield through Womply’s partners in the payment processing, banking, and merchant acquiring industries. These businesses receive value through receipt of actionable alerts when a potential threat to their business requires attention and peace of mind when all is well.

“Increasingly, the most damaging threats to revenue for small businesses are found online,” says Womply President Cory Capoccia. “Most brick-and-mortar businesses have security systems to protect their physical property and credit monitoring for financial security, but they don’t have a solution for online threat monitoring to manage their online presence and protect them from nefarious activity like phishing schemes. We’re excited to change that by making BizShield available to any small business in the U.S.”

As consumers increasingly use the internet to find and research local businesses, small brick-and-mortar companies are under more pressure to manage their “online business presence,” or how they appear on their website and listings on sites like Yelp, Google My Business, Facebook, and TripAdvisor. In fact, most small businesses’ reputations are tied to their online presence.

According to The Hartford, “reputational harm” is the most costly liability to businesses—six times more damaging than a burglary, three times worse than water damage, and twice as impactful as wind or hail. Accordingly, online threats such as incorrect business information, negative online reviews, or their staff’s susceptibility to phishing scams have quickly become critical for small business owners and operators to identify and manage.

BizShield proactively scans and analyzes billions of data points, detects potential threats, and alerts small business owners via email whenever an online threat emerges, ensuring they aren’t blindsided and can take action when necessary. It’s the first service of its kind, developed with the specific needs of small businesses in mind.

“Entrepreneurs on Main Street are the busiest people in the country, and the last thing they need is one more thing to manage,” Capoccia says. “We built BizShield to filter out the noise and provide critical, actionable information so small businesses can adapt seamlessly to digital shifts in consumer trends and protect their businesses from bad actors seeking to obtain sensitive information.”

Companies who partner with Womply can now offer BizShield to their small business customers in any industry. To learn more, contact us at partnerships@womply.com.
