LANGHORNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LifeShield, a leader in advanced wireless home security systems, has added home automation capabilities at no additional cost to customers. The LifeShield S30 base is now certified to work with all Z-Wave compatible smart lights, locks, thermostats, and garage doors through iOS, Android, and web applications.
Smart devices connected through the LifeShield S30 base can also be controlled using voice commands through the latest Amazon Alexa smart home skill as well as through the IFTTT.com (If This Then That) rules engine. This new integration with IFTTT allows customers to quickly combine other branded smart devices in their homes.
LifeShield also added rich push notifications so customers can receive alerts via their iOS, Android, and web devices. This capability complements other LifeShield features such as the recently released camera motion detection. Now LifeShield customers get push notifications with previews of what their cameras have detected and a quick option to view the video if they like.
“Our customers want to get information they need about their home without slowing down. With our enhanced push notifications, customers don’t have to open their apps to get video updates,” explained Doug Bellenger, Chief Product Officer at LifeShield. “And through Alexa’s voice control, we have added another way for customers to arm and control their devices, interacting with LifeShield in whatever way is easiest for them at any given moment.”
Following its founding in 2004, LifeShield became an early player in the wireless home security market. In 2013, LifeShield was acquired by DIRECTV where the LifeShield team continued to develop the home security ecosystem, improving interactivity, advancing video capabilities and enhancing the user experience. After AT&T’s acquisition of DIRECTV, LifeShield’s early leadership team recognized LifeShield’s potential in the evolving home security market and reacquired it in 2017.
“LifeShield pioneered the industry as the first-to-market with advanced wireless home security systems. In the year since reacquiring LifeShield from AT&T, we’ve re-engaged that innovative spirit and LifeShield’s relentless dedication to delivering the best experience for our customers,” said Mike Hagan, LifeShield’s original co-founder and current CEO. “By pairing home automation, voice control, and an improved video experience with our existing wireless home security packages, LifeShield’s capabilities offer everything customers need to create a safe and convenient home environment at an incredible value.”
