SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Riverbed®, The Digital Performance Company™, today announced that state-owned Indonesian social insurance company, PT Jasa Raharja, has selected Riverbed SteelConnect, a cloud networking and software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN) solution, to dramatically simplify network management for 860 of its insurance locations nationwide. SteelConnect will provide local offices with fast and secure access to the company’s centralized business applications, reduce reliance on MPLS resulting in cost-savings and enable the rapid provisioning of new digital services at scale. Jasa Raharja rolled out the initial 32 sites in just two weeks, enabling the organization to adapt quickly to change as it continues to enhance their user experience through the adoption of digital technologies and services.

Jasa Raharja was established to assist the victims of land, sea and air transportation accidents. It manages a highly dispersed network of more than 150 branch offices, representative offices and points of service, and nearly 1300 Department of Motor Vehicles locations across the country. Many of Jasa Raharja’s branches are located in remote, underserved areas of the country.
The organization is undergoing a significant digital transformation to improve citizens’ experience with its services. This includes plans to facilitate e-payments through e-Samsat, an integrated online administrative system that brings together state-owned police, insurance, DMV and local revenue offices, in cooperation with state and private banks, to accelerate public services.
Jasa Raharja’s participation demands a more flexible business model and greater agility to manage change at scale – something the organization’s legacy infrastructure couldn’t support.
“We manage a highly complex hybrid network that includes a variety of connectivity options including VSAT, MPLS, Internet and cellular, and we do this all centrally, with a small IT team located at our headquarters,” said Tri Haryanto, Head of Information Technology Department for PT Jasa Raharja. “Simplifying remote IT management while assuring digital performance at far-flung branches was a major concern.”
Jasa Raharja needed a modern IT infrastructure that would enable the organization to maximize its existing IT resources, centralize and simplify management of the network and reduce costs by moving more traffic from MPLS to the Internet. At the same time, the introduction of new digital services in cooperation with other state-owned offices demanded new levels of business agility.
“We evaluated SD-WAN solutions from Cisco and Citrix, but Riverbed SteelConnect was unmatched in its simplicity. With Riverbed, I can now monitor the network, manage policy and deploy new digital services from a single pane of glass – this helps boost productivity and digital performance, as well as business agility,” said Haryanto. “Case in point: we have been able to rollout our first 32 sites in two weeks. Dedicated 24x7 support gives us the assurance we need to execute with a small IT team.”
Continued SteelConnect Momentum and Innovation
SteelConnect, initially launched as an early access offering in April 2016, is the industry’s first and only product that provides unified connectivity and policy-based orchestration spanning the entire network – LAN/WLAN (including cloud-based Riverbed Xirrus Wi-Fi), WAN, data center and the cloud, with one-click connectivity and optimization into AWS and Microsoft Azure. SteelConnect also enables zero-touch provisioning, allowing an enterprise to set-up a global network and connect to the cloud in minutes, and easy ongoing network management that provides the ability to make network or business/application policy changes with a few clicks of a mouse.
Since the initial launch of SteelConnect, Riverbed has continued a rapid pace of innovation, introducing a broad set of unique capabilities, including integration with SteelCentral for visibility and insight, integration with the market-leading WAN Optimization solution (Riverbed SteelHead SD), and following the strategic acquisition of Xirrus (leading cloud-based Wi-Fi company) in May 2017, enterprise-grade Wi-Fi – bringing the power of policy-based network management out to the wireless edge. SteelConnect also seamlessly integrates with third-party network security services, such as Zscaler’s cloud security platform, to help IT professionals achieve agility, performance and security across the distributed enterprise.
