NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thrive Global, the behavior change, media and technology company founded by Arianna Huffington, announced today that Marina Khidekel has been named Editorial Director. Khidekel joins Thrive at a time of significant growth for the company and at a critical moment in the cultural conversation about mental health and about how well-being directly impacts performance.
“One of my deepest beliefs, which is at the heart of Thrive Global, is that we are not just here to tell stories, but to have an impact and help people change their lives,” said Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global. “That’s why I’m so delighted to welcome Marina to Thrive. She has a unique ability to identify cultural trends and shape them into stories that truly matter to people. We are at a cultural milestone where millions of people around the world are longing to change the way they work, live, and interact with technology. Together with our growing content team, including our Chief Content Officer, Anne Sachs, Marina will leverage her deeply rooted experience in reporting and storytelling to bring together the latest science, ancient wisdom and new role models to help our readers around the world make the changes they want in their lives.”
“Marina brings a special talent for telling stories with both heart and science,” said Anne Sachs, Chief Content Officer of Thrive Global. “Her background in bringing together a diverse range of voices, grounding their perspectives in the latest research, and presenting them in a way that inspires thoughtful action, will be instrumental in growing Thrive’s cultural presence.”
As Editorial Director, Khidekel will introduce new content franchises and expand how Thrive collaborates with its network of experts and thought-leaders, combining their expertise with her experience in personal storytelling to help bring critical issues around burnout and how to live a good life to the front of the cultural conversation. She will bring new voices to Thrive's core topics including well-being, mental health, productivity, and our relationship with technology.
"We are seeing a massive shift in the way we think about the connection between personal well-being and career success. Even just a few years ago, self-care and mental health rarely came up when we talked about professional ambition,” said Khidekel. “Now, based on emerging science, and thanks in no small part to Arianna and her efforts, people are realizing these issues are deeply interconnected, and they’re hungry for tools to better integrate these two parts of their lives. Like so many others, I've been experiencing a personal evolution in my own approach to success, and this role dovetails with my changing mindset in a profound way. I am thrilled to join the Thrive Global team at this crucial time in our cultural conversation about how mental, emotional and physical well-being impacts our creativity and success at work."
Khidekel has held senior editorial roles at Women's Health, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour, and has written for publications including Bloomberg Businessweek, Teen Vogue, Marie Claire, Parade and Elle. As senior deputy editor at Women's Health, she edited award-winning health and wellness features and oversaw the campaigns, partnerships and events around them. As deputy editor of features and brand extensions at Cosmopolitan, she modernized the magazine's love and relationships coverage, bringing in top contributors and leading Cosmopolitan to earn its first GLAAD award for Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage. She was also the founder of Undrrated, a viral email newsletter in which notable creatives such as Misty Copeland and Phoebe Robinson shared their under-the-radar culture, food and style favorites.
