DRYDEN, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Domtar Corporation (NYSE: UFS) (TSX: UFS) announced that employee volunteers from the company’s pulp mill in Dryden, Ontario, Canada, and their families, revitalized Lions Park next to Dryden High School today. Domtar’s Dryden Mill led the community conservation project with members of the Student Conservation Association, a long-time non-profit partner of Domtar’s, and the City of Dryden. Domtar makes a wide variety of everyday products from sustainable wood fiber, and is one of the world’s largest producers of a complete line of absorbent hygiene solutions and an innovator in absorbent technology. Located in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, Domtar's Dryden Mill employs more than 380 people in the community and produces Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp suitable for a variety of uses.
“We have a longstanding relationship with Dryden High School and many of our employees and neighbors have children that go to the school or have over the years,” said Domtar Regional Public Affairs Manager, Bonny Skene. “We are pleased to partner with the City of Dryden to ensure that Lions Park, a community space that is important to us all, is safe, accessible, and enjoyable for the community.”
The City of Dryden identified the Lions Park conservation project as an important community priority for Domtar and the Student Conservation Association, helped raise awareness, and will have employees on site Saturday to coordinate and provide assistance to volunteers. Volunteers will remove brush and trim back low-hanging branches along community trails in Lions Park. Adjacent to Dryden High School, many students use the trails in Lions Park on their way to school each morning. However, winter storms have left the park run down with brush to be cleared and low-hanging branches to be trimmed back from the trails.
