GARDEN CITY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Innovative social media technology company Giga Entertainment Media (GEM) today announced that it has appointed seasoned global business and technology executive James Massa as Chief Executive Officer to lead the company through its next phase of innovation and exponential growth.
“There couldn’t be a better time for GEM to bring James aboard. I’m excited we were able to attract such impressive talent,” said GEM founder and Chief Advisor Gary Nerlinger.
Indeed “seasoned” and “impressive” is James’ background. Having been at the ground level of three startup internet technology companies that all reached a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) or an acquisition exit, James often quips that he was involved with the internet before people could spell “www.” James carries degrees in both Computer Science and Business Administration and has consulted with NASA at Kennedy Space Center on IP based communication technologies. Most recognizable to technologists and business leaders alike is James’ involvement with Cisco Systems during their decade of extreme rapid growth and high double digit multiples.
James joined Cisco Systems and served for 14 years in a variety of executive positions including responsibility for all commercial operations in the Southeast United States, VP of Federal Operations, VP of Global Space and Defense, VP of Global Government Alliances, and VP and Chief Strategist of Government Govt. Solutions Group, As Cisco’s top executive for global government markets James held P&L responsibility for an organization of over $500M and grew the global government market from 5% to 20% of Cisco’s total annual revenues at that time. During James’ tenure Cisco’s grew from $365M annual revenues to the $26B.
James served as the Chairman of the Internet Architecture Task Force for the NSTAC (National Security Telecommunications Advisory Council), an advisory council to the President of the United States. During such he played an important role in industry’s assistance to the Federal Government’s response to the 9/11 attacks which destroyed the Twin Towers, damaged the Pentagon, and temporarily crippled Wall Street. He also served as a Board Director for the United States Technology Training Institute (USTTI), whose focus includes global broadcast spectrum management as well as internet and cellular service licensing and expansion.
“GEM has developed a treasure trove of dynamic products for white label, streaming, B2C markets, as well as, innovative, exciting apps for the ever-expansive social media market,” said Massa. “It’s all about drawing massive audiences to immerse themselves in GEM’s offerings. I look forward to working with this innovative team, and leading GEM to a high return for its shareholders and exciting products for its customers.”
As part of James’ post-Cisco career, he formed Loom Enterprises, broadening his interests and expertise beyond high tech through C-Suite consultation to emerging companies focused on green energy technologies, AgTech and BioTech. Based on his involvement in 70 acquisitions, 20 mergers, and the forming over 140 strategic alliances, James has authored a book on forming synergistic business relationships.
