62% Find Data Warehouses Too Complex, Use Reddit for Educational Resources, According to Panoply’s 2018 Data Warehouse Trends Report

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Panoply, the world’s only smart data warehouse for business intelligence (BI), has released the updated 2018 Data Warehouse Trends Report, which tracks data professionals’ opinions on the latest developments and findings in the Data Warehouse industry.

In the 12-page report, respondents indicated while being data-driven is increasingly important, complexity is presenting issues. As for the other highlights:

  • Expectations around data warehouses have elevated. Data warehouses are no longer seen as merely a repository containing data from disparate sources and need to be more adaptive to a constantly changing business and data environment
  • Data warehouses are still too complex. More than 62% of respondents find the “data” stack to be too complex and are unsatisfied with their current solutions
  • Data Analysts expect their warehouses to be automated and worry-free
  • LinkedIn and Reddit are the top educational resources for data analysts

The data in the reports and findings therein were summarized by polling 1,600 attendees at Amazon Web Service’s (AWS) Re:Invent conference in November 2017. We asked data professionals about their data tools of choice and frustrations with their current BI and data solutions.
