TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Schroders, a global asset management company with CAD$757.7 billion under management* today announces:
- The launch of Schroder MyRetirement Funds (“MyRetirement Funds” or “Funds”) for the Canadian market.
- The hiring of Shawn Cohen, CFA, an Institutional Director, who will be responsible for building relationships with defined contribution record-keepers and intermediaries offering third party asset managers in Canada. In addition, Shawn will work with Schroders’ Global Defined Contribution team and be responsible for delivering thought leadership into the Canadian market.
Schroder MyRetirement Funds are target date funds that were built upon extensive research of the Canadian market and exclusively designed for Canadians. Intended to be a lifelong investment solution, the Funds aim to address the specific challenges of each stage of an individual’s life, including delivering a predictable income stream in the retirement years. The Funds offer five-year vintages from 2015 through 2060, taking into account an individual’s age, lifespan, and income, as well as offering the ability to readjust accordingly.
Based in Toronto, Cohen will start in June, reporting to Ross Servick, Head of Canada. He joins Schroders from MFS Investment Management in Canada where he was Director of Relationship Management, managing the firm’s key clients and serving as a regional representative for its defined contribution team. Prior to MFS Investment Management, Cohen spent thirteen years at Aon Hewitt, including serving as a Legal Consultant and eventually Defined Contribution Practice Leader. Cohen earned a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Administrative Studies in Accounting from York University.
Ross Servick, Head of Canada, said:
“After years of extensive research and analysis, we are excited to bring a target date solution to address the growth and income challenges plan sponsors and their members face. This fund will manage our clients’ investments not just until they reach retirement age but beyond retirement, seeking to provide an attractive income for their active and late retirement years.
The addition of Shawn Cohen to the team demonstrates our commitment to delivering world class solutions to record-keepers, consultants, and plans sponsors in Canada.”
Shawn Cohen, CFA, Institutional Director, said:
“Schroders is a global provider of innovative solutions to their clients across markets and this is an opportunity to bring that expertise to Canada. The post-retirement landscape is changing and the launch of the Schroder MyRetirement Funds will bring a lifetime solution to participants that manage both the accumulation and decumulation stages of their lives.”
