Schneider CIO and EVP Shaleen Devgun Joins 8VC as Advisor

Technology Leader from Transportation Industry Brings Deep Expertise to 8VC’s Logistics Portfolio

SAN FRANCISCO--()--8VC, the venture capital fund dedicated to solving real-world problems through industry transformation, today announced Shaleen Devgun, chief information officer and executive vice president at Schneider (NYSE: SNDR), has joined the firm as an advisor. Devgun will lend his industry expertise to provide guidance to 8VC’s logistics portfolio companies, which include Platform Science, project 44, Freightwaves, Joby Aviation, Boom, and LoadDocs.

Devgun leads Schneider’s strategic technology, logistics engineering, and business transformation initiatives as a member of the executive team. He joined the company in 2009, most recently serving as Vice President of Strategy, Planning and Solution Delivery. Prior to joining Schneider, Devgun spent over a decade in management consulting, where his experience included corporate ventures, formulation and execution of business and technology strategy, program leadership, and operational design for multiple Fortune 500 corporations.

At 8VC, we work with founders and entrepreneurs who are on a mission to transform global industries, and one of the ways we support them is by looking for key leaders who are industry experts in the areas we invest – and Shaleen is that person in logistics,” said Jake Medwell, co-founder and partner at 8VC. “Shaleen has one of the most impressive track records in transportation and logistics, which is a uniquely complex space. Our portfolio companies will benefit from his deep understanding of the industry and the benefits that technology, including analytics from big data and connected IoT systems, can bring to enable efficiencies that were otherwise not possible.”

8VC is tackling global problems and developing powerful solutions in all areas, including logistics, which has a tremendous opportunity for industry transformation,” said Devgun. “8VC brings deep technical expertise and a hands-on approach that gives their portfolio companies an edge, and I look forward to working with the team to drive innovation and create a new vision for the future of logistics.”

In April, 8VC and Schneider announced their first shared investment in Platform Science, an 8VC portfolio company that provides an IoT ecosystem for the transportation industry.
