Five-Star Wellness Retreat to Offer Curated Lineup of Specialty Weekend Events in 2018

SARATOGA, Wyo.--()--Magee Homestead, the boutique wellness retreat offering of Wyoming’s Brush Creek Luxury Ranch Collection, as well as part of the Relais & Châteaux Collection and a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel, announced that it will open for the 2018 summer season today, May 25. This year, Magee Homestead will offer a unique lineup of curated events designed to engage the senses, from exploring the countryside on horseback to sampling vintage wines and indulging in culinary masterpieces.

“Entering into only our third year, we have already put Magee Homestead on the map, joining the prestigious Relais & Châteaux Collection in 2017 and having recently been named a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel,” said Jeremy Belnap, Proprietor of Magee Homestead. “For the 2018 season, we focused on creating a series of events that would allow guests an opportunity to visit Magee Homestead while also having a unique sensory experience. Sitting on 7,000 acres of historic Wyoming ranchlands in the high mountain desert, Magee Homestead embraces the art of living through curated experiences that provide the ultimate in romance, indulgence and relaxation. This season’s unique vacation packages offer curated experiences paired with Magee Homestead’s luxury lodging, fine dining, and daily wellness and activity offerings…

  • Weekend of Whiskey with Wyoming Whiskey, June 1st and 2nd
    Magee Homestead will host Wyoming Whiskey for a specialty weekend focused on Wyoming distilled whiskey paired with fresh, locally-sourced cuisine. Highlights include a poolside bourbon through maturity tasting accompanied by a special menu; specialty whiskey dinner featuring a six-course menu with Wyoming Whiskey barrel-smoked food; fireside whiskey tastings; and specialty Wyoming Whiskey cocktails served throughout the weekend.
  • The Language of Horses & Holistic Horsemanship, June 10th and 11th
    Horse and equestrian enthusiasts can join International Equine Linguist, Natural Horsewoman, trainer, coach and clinician, Anna Twinney, of Reach Out to Horses at Magee Homestead for a highly personalized experience including demonstrations, a horsemanship clinic and horseback riding on the Ranch.
  • Brooks Winery Week, July 10th and 11th
    Highly praised and from the Willamette Valley of Oregon, Brooks Winery will bring a mid-week wine experience to Magee Homestead filled with wine seminars, vintage tastings and exquisite pairing menus prepared by Magee Chef AJ Buchanio. Highlights include an introduction to Brooks Winery and the story behind “American Wine Story;” seminar on Brooks Wine blending; rustic Wyoming Rocky Mountain four-course dinner with custom wine pairings; Brooks vintage variation tasting bar with paired hors d’oeuvres; refined Wyoming Rocky Mountain six-course dinner with custom wine pairings.
  • ROAR Winery Weekend with the Franscionis, July 20th and 21st
    On Friday, guests will join ROAR owner Gary Franscioni for a wine blending session that will highlight four clones of Pinot Noir from Rosella’s Vineyard and will offer instructions on how to blend and taste, as well as share unique insights into how the wines are made. Saturday’s special event will include a six-course meal each paired with a different ROAR wine, with Franscioni leading discussion on courses and presentation of each wine.
  • Winemaker Weekend with Alex Gambal, August 10th and 11th
    This weekend with Alex Gambal is a unique opportunity to blend Burgundy wine with the Wyoming prairie. The weekend begins with a four-course wine pairing dinner executed by Chef Buchanio with courses paired with Alex Gambal wines including a 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a 2013 Vougeot Clos du Village and a 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet. Day two will feature a tutored wine seminar by Gambal that will compare his White Burgundy and his new Chardonnay from Santa Barbara’s Santa Rita Hills followed by a long table dinner with Burgundian inspiration that will pair with Gambal’s Burgundy wines, including an old White Burgundy from Gambal’s personal cellar.
  • Weekend with Jesse Katz of Devil Proof Vineyards & Andy Katz Photography, August 16th to 18th
    This special weekend event features an exciting personalized wine experience with award-winning winemaker Jesse Katz from Sonoma’s Devil Proof Vineyards, including wine blending seminars, new and old world taste education and testing as well as wine pairing dinners where guests will help craft a Magee Homestead custom blend. Joining Jesse Katz will be professional photographer Andy Katz, who will lead a behind the scenes sunset photography seminar, culminating in a winning photograph to be utilized as the wine label on Magee Homestead’s one-of-a-kind wine.
  • Culinary Weekend with Relais & Châteaux Caribbean Resort Chefs, August 30th to September 2nd
    Magee Chef AJ Buchanio will welcome fellow Relais & Châteaux Collections Chefs Gianluca re Fraschini from Eden Rock Cap Cana of the Dominican Republic and Mark Banthorpe from Calabash Resort in Grenada as they showcase fresh Caribbean cuisine in a Rocky Mountain setting. The weekend will include four-course welcome dinner prepared by Magee Chef Buchanio; Platte Canyon excursion dinner showcasing Caribbean cuisine with flair; all three chefs will join forces for a “Six Hands Dinner” in Magee Lodge with a special long table tapas-style menu featuring Caribbean cuisine with a Rocky Mountain twist; and rum tasting and cigars following dinner each evening.

    Another Relais & Châteaux culinary showcase weekend featuring New England chefs will take place October 5th and 6th with details to be announced later this summer.
  • Chefs on the Prairie Weekend, September 21st and 22nd
    The culinary experience at Magee Homestead will be elevated to new heights during this special weekend featuring the talents of guest chef Jennifer Jasinski, Denver’s first James Beard Award-winning chef, and Carrie Baird, Top Chef Colorado Finalist. The itinerary will feature meals prepared in a variety of venues and the sharing of cooking and pairing techniques with highlights to include a horseback trail ride with Chefs Jasinski and Baird including an “in the field” prepared lunch and interactive cooking demonstration; four-course welcome dinner prepared by Chef Buchanio; Founders Gun Range experience with remote yurt lunch prepared by Chef Buchanio; six-course, six-hand dinner jointly prepared by Chefs Buchanio, Jasinski and Baird to cap off the weekend.

“Whether a guest is seeking a culinary adventure, winemaking education or simply a place for inspiring, meditative relaxation, Magee Homestead is a truly unique experience – an idyllic combination of sophisticated exclusion and American West adventure,” said Belnap.

Each specialty event is an enrichment program designed as an enhancement to the all-inclusive Magee Homestead experience. Standard pricing begins at $1,250 per person, per night based on double occupancy and is inclusive of all lodging; gourmet chef-prepared cuisine, premium beers, wines and spirits; extensive wellness programming including yoga, Pilates and meditation in a variety of settings; fitness programs include hiking and biking on over 50 miles of trails; and classic Western adventures including horseback riding, fly fishing, ranger tours, Gun Club and archery. Excludes spa treatments and elite a la carte experiences. A 23 percent Ranch fee (Inclusive of all gratuities and applicable taxes) will also apply.
