Spredfast Announces Vault to Help Businesses Protect Their Brand on Social

Enterprise social teams can now better protect their brand on social by governing native access to social channels

AUSTIN, Texas--()--Spredfast, the leading independent maker of social marketing software, today announced it has launched Spredfast Vault, empowering businesses to take greater control over who has access to their social accounts. The newest addition to the Spredfast suite of products, Vault is a social access and credential management product that allows customers to govern native social account access (i.e. directly accessing social accounts rather than through a third party software). For end users, Vault is a centralized, secure point of entry for native access when needed. For administrators, Vault offers control, visibility, and reporting around that native access.

The always-on nature of social media means a brand’s social accounts are linked directly to their public perception and brand reputation. Anytime an employee has direct (native) access to an account, that's a risk. Mistakes on social can create lasting brand damage.

The typical enterprise has dozens, or even hundreds, of employees posting on behalf of the brand to hundreds of social accounts worldwide. With no easy way to manage access to their social accounts, companies are left managing credentials through spreadsheets, emails, and Post-It notes. This gives them no way to prevent current or former employees from damaging the brand with an accidental mistake or a deliberately negative post.

"Social media is where brands can build meaningful relationships with their customers," says Rod Favaron, Spredfast CEO. "For all the benefits, social also comes with inherent risk. It's time for brands to take the responsibility of protecting their brand on social seriously."

For years, large enterprise level social teams functioned without a holistic proactive governance solution for using the social networks' native tools, risking brand reputation and security alike. Spredfast Vault is designed with this challenge in mind, empowering the world’s biggest brands to strengthen governance over their social accounts and build peace of mind.

“We've heard the demand loud and clear: brands are looking for a way to better protect themselves across their enterprise on social--and that's exactly what we're delivering with Vault,” said Manish Mehta, Spredfast Chief Product Officer.

Key Features:

  • Credential and Access Management: Any secure solution must address both models of native access:
    • Credential Management: Relies on a single username and password for a shared social account on networks like Twitter.
    • Access Management: Gives a personal social account access to a brand page or social account on networks like Facebook.
  • Governing The End User Experience: Users simply click on the account they need to access and are automatically logged in. Users never see or have access to the account password, limiting risk.
  • Know and Control Who Has Access: Vault logs users requesting native access, the reason for the access, and for how long in an auditable system.
  • Revoke Access: A user’s native session can be revoked at any time, logging that user out instantly.
