SmartEdTech Partners with App Ed Review to Give Teachers the Information They Need to Use Education Apps Quickly and Effectively

Teachers can now access App Ed Review’s app descriptions, evaluations, and instructional ideas from within the SmartEdTech mobile learning platform

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--With nearly 1 million education apps in the various app stores, finding the right mobile learning content to address specific learning standards or skill development goals can be like finding a needle in a haystack. To give teachers the information they need to quickly and effectively identify high-quality education apps to use with their students, SmartEdTech has partnered with App Ed Review.

Through this partnership, SmartEdTech will incorporate into its mobile learning platform the apps that meet the high standards of the App Ed Review evaluation criteria. Educators will see the App Ed Review seal of approval associated with those apps as well as a link to the complete review.

“Evaluating the instructional quality of an app is a time-consuming endeavor for teachers, limiting the potential for mobile content to meet its potential in impacting personalized learning,” said Brian Sharp, CEO of SmartEdTech. “App Ed Review uses a rubric with 26 evaluative dimensions to analyze the educational potential of apps. By integrating App Ed Review’s comprehensive reviews into our mobile learning platform, we’re making it quick and easy for teachers to find the right apps to meet their students’ unique learning needs.”

Using the SmartEdTech platform, teachers can search the online content library for specific skills or standards. Apps that have been evaluated by App Ed Review will display the review, which includes a description, evaluation, and instructional ideas for using the app. Teachers can then assign one or multiple apps to individuals, groups, or the entire class. As students interact with the assigned content, teachers can track their progress against their skill development goals and adjust their learning plans as needed.

“To use education apps effectively, teachers need to know the app’s instructional implications, design, and potential to engage students,” said Dr. Todd Cherner, co-founder and editor-in-chief of App Ed Review. “We’re excited to partner with SmartEdTech to give teachers instant access to our reviews and the information they need to make informed decisions and take the next instructional step.”
