East Coast Game Conference Announces Continued Growth, 2019 Dates

RALEIGH, N.C.--()--Organizers of the East Coast Game Conference (ECGC), held from April 17-19, have confirmed record attendance at the tenth annual event, supported by nearly 100 exhibitors and 20% attendance growth. The next ECGC will be held from April 16-18, 2019, at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Developers participating in ECGC Indie Alley, which doubled in size from 2017 to 2018, participated in Casual Connect’s Indie Prize competition, with judging taking place at the expo. The ECGC 2018 Indie Prize winner is Upside Down Bird’s Super Gravity Ball, a gravity-manipulating puzzle platformer, which will be present at Casual Connect Europe in London next month as a result of the initiative.

“We couldn’t be happier with the feedback we’ve received from speakers, exhibitors and attendees,” said Troy Knight, co-founder of ECGC and founder and CEO at BLDG-25. “Our mission is to connect industry thought leaders with professionals, educators and aspiring developers, and to inspire those making games and using real-time technology to advance the state of the art across many industries.”

Noteworthy ECGC 2018 speakers included Brenda Romero, award-winning game designer, artist and Fulbright scholar, and Kelly Wallick, Indie MEGABOOTH founder, Independent Games Festival chairman and BitSummit co-organizer. Keynotes featured Dr. Paul Kruszewski, leading artificial intelligence and computer graphics expert, and Epic Games Director of Publishing Strategy Sergey Galyonkin, creator of the popular Steam Spy data reporting platform. ECGC speakers came from studios including Boss Key Productions, Capybara Games, Deep Silver Volition, Efecto Studios, Gun Media, King, Obsidian Entertainment, Remedy Entertainment, Respawn Entertainment, Ubisoft Reflections and Zenimax Online Studios.

Companies with ECGC 2018 booths included: Epic Games, makers of Fortnite and Unreal Engine; Funcom, the studio behind Conan: Exiles and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden; Imangi Studios, makers of the Temple Run series; Insomniac Games, developers of Spider-Man games, Sunset Overdrive and the Ratchet & Clank series; Laser Guided Games, the team behind Golem Gates; Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment, creators of the Ghost Recon series and additional AAA properties; and many others.

ECGC 2018 speakers and attendees traveled from all over the world — from Australia, Colombia, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and even Uganda — to meet the creative and technological experts that congregate annually in Raleigh.
