Orange Bowl Committee Welcomes New Members

MIAMI LAKES, Fla.--()--(www.orangebowl.org) – The Orange Bowl Committee officially welcomed eight new Active Members for the 2018-19 year, who were elected at the March Membership Meeting. With the additions, the Orange Bowl Committee consists of 360 members.

The new class will play an integral role as the Orange Bowl will host College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl on Dec. 29, 2018, the 25th annual MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on Dec. 22, 2018, as well as numerous other sporting events and community activities throughout South Florida.

New Active Members

Michael A. Cabanas, Managing Director and Head of Relationship Development for Fiduciary Trust International of the South — Michael rejoined the firm in 2016 (he previously was with them from 2006-2013) and is responsible for growing the global wealth management firm’s presence in South Florida. He has worked in similar positions with other South Florida financial services entities. He is a member of the University of Miami Citizens Board, on the board of CAP Inc., which assists Miami-Dade public school students who need additional collegiate funding, and is a past board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade. Michael has completed four marathons. He received his Bachelor of Science from FIU and his M.B.A from Nova Southeastern University. He lives in Coral Gables with his wife Katie, and four children.

Tony Coley, President—South Florida Region, BB&T – Tony leads one of the largest regions in the BB&T franchise, encompassing Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties. He is on the board of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, the board of Trustees of Bethune-Cookman University and prior to returning to South Florida he held seats on several Central Florida boards. Tony was honored in 2011 by the Miami Herald as one of the Top 20 business leaders under 40 years of age. Born and raised in South Florida, Tony received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami, where he was an academic All-American as a starting linebacker for the Hurricanes, a member of the NCAA Good Works Team for community service and was named to the Iron Arrow Society, the University’s highest honor. He and his wife Tona have one child and reside in Fort Lauderdale.

Ygnacio L. Garcia-Saladrigas, – Ygnacio has spent his career in finance, investment banking and wealth management. He is currently on the boards of Baptist Health South Florida Foundation, the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami and the Alliance of Mergers & Acquisitions Advisors’ South Florida Chapter. He has been involved in leadership levels in various civic organizations in the past including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, United Way, The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Transplant Foundation Inc., and Junior Achievement. Ygnacio received his Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University and his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife Patty have two children and reside in Pinecrest.

John Lie-Nielsen, CEO, One Park Financial LLC – John is founder and CEO of One Park Financial which focuses on financing small business owners in their quest to build businesses. An entrepreneur, John has scaled four companies in the financial services space. He currently serves on the executive committee of the Young Professionals Organization, the Board of Directors at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and the Board of Windhaven Insurance. He is also a member of Nicklaus Children’s Diamond Society, the Founders Society of Baptist Hospital and the Leadership Circle of United Way. John received his Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University. He and his wife Darling have three children and reside in Coconut Grove.

Patricia McKay, Managing Director and Partner, Templeton & Company – Patricia provides counseling and runs the Family Office practice for the accounting and consulting firm that has two offices in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Prior to joining Templeton, she served as the CFO of Office Depot, Restoration Hardware and various finance roles at AutoNation including CFO. She also served on the board of Office Depot. She is currently chair of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation and is on the board of Holy Cross Hospital. A Miami native, Patricia received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and also attended FSU. She and her husband Gary live in Fort Lauderdale and have three grown sons.

Les Pantin, Associate, P3 Management, N.A. – Les is a lobbyist specializing in representing a diverse group of clients before Miami-Dade County and various municipalities and agencies. He previously served as Assistant to the CEO of the PortMiami and held a variety of political positions. Les is currently a member of the Young Leaders Executive Committee of the United Way of Miami-Dade County and a member of the Young Leaders Group of Camillus House. He is a third generation Orange Bowl committee member. His grandfather Leslie P. Pantin was the first Hispanic member of the Committee and his father Leslie V. Pantin is a past president. Les received his Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University. He is single and resides in Coral Gables.

Wm. M. (Bill) Pierce, Principal, Pierce Consulting Group, Inc. – Bill served as president and member of the board of Frederica Hospitality Group. Concurrently, Bill was Senior Vice president of Huizenga Holdings and served as Executive Vice President of Dolphins Enterprises. He is a director of Swisher Hygiene, a public company, in which he previously served as president and CEO. Bill is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and Association for Corporate Growth. He is formerly the Vice Chairman of the Broward County Tourist Development Council and served on the Super Bowl Host Committee. Bill attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He and his wife Luann live in Lighthouse Point and have two grown daughters and three grandchildren.

Jonathan Vilma, College Football Analyst, ESPN – Jonathan was a three-year starter at middle linebacker at the University of Miami, and was named Academic All-Big East three times, and All-Big East twice. He went on to a 10 year NFL career, earning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and being named to three Pro Bowls. He founded the Jonathan Vilma Foundation, formed in 2011 to support the building of schools in Haiti (his parents’ home country) after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Jonathan is a member of the board of trustees at Miami. He is in the UM Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the New Orleans Saints’ Hall of Fame. He was a member of championship teams for both UM (2001) and the Saints (2009 Super Bowl). Jonathan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. He has one child and resides in Coral Gables.
