HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OPAQ Networks, the network security cloud company, today announced that its CTO Tom Cross will present a live, no-cost webinar on using software-defined microsegmentation to isolate and quarantine threats to protect enterprise networks against lateralization attacks.
WHO: Tom Cross, CTO of network security-as-a-service provider OPAQ Networks, is an expert in cyber security, cyber conflict, malware and vulnerability research. He is credited with discovering a number of critical vulnerabilities in enterprise software and has written papers on collateral damage in cyber conflict, vulnerability disclosure ethics, security issues in Internet routers, securing wireless LANs and more. Tom was previously Director of Security Research at Lancope and Manager of the IBM Internet Security Systems X-Force Advanced Research team.
WHAT: Once attackers penetrate a network by compromising a vulnerable device, they often use lateralization attacks to infect other machines and gain access to high-value assets. These attacks were traditionally performed manually; but are now being automated using advanced software tools. In this webinar, Tom Cross will describe the latest methods and techniques being used by attackers to compromise security defenses and move East-West within enterprise networks. He will present a new security approach for endpoints called software-defined microsegmentation and how it can be used by enterprises to isolate and prevent lateralization attacks. In addition, Tom will provide best practices for implementing microsegmentation to avoid the limitations and complexities of performing network-based segmentation using firewalls and VLANs.
