ISACA’s CGEIT Credential Tops Global Knowledge List of Highest-Paying Certifications for 2018

Four ISACA certifications make Global Knowledge list of industry-leading credentials

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill.--()--Global Knowledge designated four ISACA certifications among its top-paying IT certifications for 2018, including the Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) credential topping the organization’s annual list, extending ISACA’s certification record as top-performers.

CGEIT recognizes professionals for their knowledge and application of enterprise IT governance principles and practices. Introduced in 2007, CGEIT is frequently recognized among leading technology governance credentials and provides managers and practitioners with a holistic understanding of how to bring sound governance principles to an organization. The Global Knowledge article released this week, based on US data, shows that CGEIT credential-holders earn an average of US $121,363 per year, No. 1 on Global Knowledge’s list of top-15 paying industry certifications.

“As a CGEIT credential-holder, I have a first-hand appreciation of this credential’s value and the importance of bringing strong governance principles to the enterprise,” said Matt Loeb, CGEIT, FASAE, CAE, and ISACA CEO. “ISACA’s recent research on tech governance reinforces that better governance of information and technology has a clear impact on improving business results. Individuals who are certified in this area are in demand for more highly compensated positions.”

The Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification ranks sixth on the Global Knowledge list, with credential-holders earning an average of $US 111,049. The CRISC credential sharpens professionals’ understanding of risk management and positions them to become strategic partners within the enterprise. More than 20,000 professionals have earned the CRISC designation since it was introduced in 2010.

The Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) credential ranks seventh with an average salary of US $108,043. CISM, a credential for professionals who develop, build and manage enterprise information security programs, has been a finalist in the SC Awards “Best Professional Certification Program” category for eight consecutive years. More than 38,000 professionals have become CISM-certified since the credential’s inception in 2002.

ISACA’s most longstanding certification, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), is marking its 40th anniversary this year, fresh off being recognized as the Best Professional Certification Program in the 2017 SC Awards. CISA is considered the global gold standard among information systems audit, control and security professionals. More than 130,000 professionals have earned the CISA designation since its inception. CISA credential-holders earn an average of US $99,684, according to the 2018 Global Knowledge data.

“ISACA certifications continue to be highly valued by enterprises and hiring managers around the world,” Loeb said. “In today’s technology-driven landscape, there is an urgent need for practitioners with the proven knowledge and experience to assure that enterprises are effectively and securely implementing technology, and ISACA certifications provide that instant credibility.”

This marks the second straight year an ISACA certification has topped the Global Knowledge list of best-paying certifications after CRISC was ranked No. 1 last year. Global Knowledge will release its full 2018 IT Skills & Salary report data in May.
