JERUSALEM & NESS ZIONA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sixdof Space (www.sixdof.space) today announced the selection of Newsight Imaging’s (www.nstimg.com) NSI3000 sensor for its advanced 6DOF positional tracking solution. The advanced sensor was chosen following benchmarking and successful proof-of-concept. Sixdof and Newsight are collaborating on the development of a high-sensitivity, cost-effective, NSI3000-family sensor, which will be customized for OEM mass production of systems that use Sixdof Space’s positional tracking technology.
“In choosing a supplier of this critical, best-of-breed hardware component of our hardware/software/optics solution, we were delighted to find another young, dynamic Israeli company focused on producing precisely the kind of technology we need”, said Mark Goldfarb, CEO of Sixdof Space.
Eli Assoolin, CEO of Newsight: “We are very pleased to see our NSI3000 selected for inclusion in the Sixdof Space application – from what we’ve seen, they are one of the most promising companies in this field. We look forward to working intensely with Sixdof to assure the project’s success.”
Founded in February 2017 and based in Jerusalem, Six Degrees Space Ltd’s optical positional technology leverages existing lights to serve as location beacons. Products in development report their accurate position at very high speed, to any host system ̶̶ be it a VR headset or other mass-market product. Sixdof’s technology combines optical sensors and algorithm code and is designed to be embedded into any manufacturer’s existing hardware. This patent-pending approach yields a product that offers the sought-after combination of low cost, low power, low latency, as well as being installation-free positional tracking. Newsight Imaging Ltd. (www.nstimg.com) develops advanced CMOS image sensor chips, providing 3D solutions for high volume markets. The chip’s sensor is manufactured using CMOS technology with ultra-high sensitivity pixels, replacing more expensive CCD sensors and other camera modules in LiDAR applications for robotics, automotive (ADAS and Car safety), mobile depth cameras, AR/VR, Industry 4.0 and barcode scanners.
Newsight's NSI3000 family is already in the market with high volume customers and a big pipeline of evaluations. Newsight’s patent-pending eTOF™ (Enhanced Time-of-Flight) Technology bridges the gap between short-distance iTOF and the long-distance requirement of the automotive industry by extending the dynamic range while retaining high accuracy.
