Environmental Specialist, Eddie DuRant, and Wetland Restoration Expert, Matt Stahman, M.S., PWS Join RES Team

HOUSTON--()--RES, the nation’s largest environmental solutions provider, announced two additions to its team. Eddie DuRant joins the project management team as Senior Project Manager and Matt Stahman, joins the regulatory team as Director of Regulatory.

Eddie brings over 25 years of extensive academic training and professional experience as a nationally recognized subject matter expert in natural resources with environmental/engineering firms in the private sector as well as the Federal service, with the Department of Defense (DoD) working with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Most recently, Eddie served as the Senior Environmental Planner for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division (SWD), where he served as the subject matter expert to the Division Commander, staff elements, and subordinate districts on environmental resources planning, environmental compliance and natural resource use.

Prior to his time serving with USACE SWD, Eddie served as the Planning Resources Chief for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District. Eddie also served as the DoD Chesapeake Bay Program Coordinator while working with the U.S. Navy’s Naval Facilities Engineering Command. In this role Eddie represented the DoD as a liaison with Federal agencies participating in the Chesapeake Bay Program through the 2009 Executive Order 13508 – Chesapeake Bay Protection and Restoration.

Additionally, Eddie served as a NEPA/Natural Resources Project Manager with Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic working on military construction, environmental and natural resources projects on Navy and Marine Corps installations from Maine to North Carolina. Eddie has also served as a leader and senior level environmental scientist for various environmental consulting and engineering firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. Eddie’s primary focus will be expanding RES’ capabilities in the Federal government marketplace and developing and expanding RES capabilities in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region. “As we serve a growing number of government sector clients, Eddie’s in-depth experience strengthens our ability to deliver exceptional solutions and provide greater value to the public,” said Don Seaborn, Regional General Manager.

Matt Stahman joins RES with over 20 years of professional experience in the environmental consulting industry. For the last fifteen years, Matt served as Principal of SWCA Environmental Consultants’ Houston office where his most recent projects include conducting environmental permitting for a 25-mile pipeline in Harris and Chambers Counties; assisting in the development of a mitigation plan for an over 400-acred property in eastern Harris County; and negotiating wetland and stream mitigation on a 1500-acre facility expansion in the Columbia Bottomlands region of the Texas Gulf Coast.

Matt has worked across the United States serving multiple industries including oil & gas, electric transmission, generation, land development, water resources, and transportation. His extensive natural resource experience consists of designing, implementing, and monitoring multiple mitigation banks; consolidating mitigation areas; and coordinating and communicating with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. During his consulting career, Matt specialized in Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act permitting, compliance, and mitigation.

Matt is a registered Professional Wetland Scientist, past President of the Society of Wetland Scientists South Central Chapter, and has presented and participated in many conferences in the U.S. including FERC’s Environmental Compliance and Environmental Report Preparation Workshops.

Matt has been a teaming partner with RES for over a decade, working on many projects where RES provided the mitigation or restoration component. “Matt’s extensive experience in the industry is a natural fit for our strong regulatory team as RES’ continues to create innovative and high-quality environmental solutions for our clients,” stated David Joyce, Chief Operating Officer.
