Ambitious Micro-Budget Independent Feature Film “The Ghost Who Walks” To Film in St. Louis, Missouri

Garland Scott, Alexia Rasmussen, Gil Darnell and Frank Mosley star as the lead characters in a film shooting in St. Louis during 2017-18 holiday season

ST. LOUIS--()--With a strong cast in place, the award-winning team of writer/director Cody Stokes, executive producer David Johnson and Producer Daniel Gartner are set to begin shooting the independent feature-length crime thriller The Ghost Who Walks about an imprisoned criminal who betrays his former boss for a final opportunity to become the father he never was.

Stokes is an award-winning writer and director with a number of international short films to his credit as well as having directed commercials for brands including BMW, Toyota, Microsoft, Yahoo!, AMEX and NIKE. Johnson is currently the President of Coolfire Studios and was formerly in feature film development with Outlaw Productions (Sex, Lies & Videotape, Training Day) as well as Mike Binder's Sunlight Productions (Londinium, The Search For John Gissing).

Actor Garland Scott (Toenail, Almost Amazing) stars as the lead character “Nolan,” who after five years in prison is led to freedom by guards for ratting out his former boss to be played by Gil Darnell (Reign, Bones, Seal Team) – ironically a death sentence for any member of organized crime. His only friend “Stitches” to be played by indie actor Frank Mosley (Upstream Color, The Procedure) is there for Nolan when he gets out of prison. Nolan’s goal in turning on his former employer is to find his wife “Lena,” played by indie film veteran Alexia Rasmussen (Creative Control, Tilt, Proxy), and his five-year-old daughter “Amy” whom he’s never met – and get them out of the city, to a new life together, before the ghosts of his past can track him down and kill him.

“It’s an ambitious film, no doubt about it,” said Johnson, the executive producer. “I think the element that was most attractive to me was that Cody was able to take the crime thriller genre and weave in a very character driven element to it. I’m very excited to see Garland and Cody bring the character of Nolan to life.”

The film is being financed through private equity funding. Scheduled to be shot in 4K and produced by Daniel Gartner’s Middle Coast Films in St. Louis during the 2017-18 holiday season, the film is expected to be made for roughly $250,000 and operate under the SAG Ultra Low Budget Agreement. Also joining the team are Executive Producer Barry Albrecht and Director of Photography Michael Lockridge, who was just honored as an Emerging Cinematographer through the International Cinematographers Guild.

Middle Coast Films, LLC is a partnership between writer/director Stokes and Gartner formed to make high quality independent cinema on a sensible low budget scale.
