Idera, Inc. Acquires Ranorex, Doubling Size of Test Management Tools Business

Test Automation Solution Combines Power and Ease of Use for Testers and Developers Alike

HOUSTON--()--Idera, Inc., parent company of global B2B software productivity brands, today announced an agreement to acquire Ranorex, a provider of cross-platform test automation for desktop, web and mobile software. Ranorex will become part of Idera, Inc.’s Test Management Tools business that also includes TestRail by Gurock, effectively doubling the size of its Test Management Tools portfolio.

Ranorex provides test automation software to more than 10,000 users across 70 countries, with customers that include Adidas, Canon, Caterpillar, Cisco Systems, Citrix, Dell, Ericsson, Hitachi, Lufthansa, Motorola, Philips, Roche, Siemens, Symantec and Toshiba.

Ranorex Studio, the company’s flagship product, provides an all-in-one environment for developing and managing test automation projects in teams that include both testers and developers. Simple recording functionalities for script-free programming and support for third party controls and frameworks help users create automated testing projects that speed development cycles and reduce the cost of testing each new software release. Innovative features including GUI object recognition, reusable code modules, bug tracking, click-and-go reporting, and seamless integration with existing tools help users achieve up to 40 percent savings in test execution time.

“The growing adoption of agile development and the shift toward continuous delivery have increased pressure on today's software testers, often without sufficient, additional resources to meet these new demands,” said Jay Lyman, Principal Analyst for 451 Research. “Software products that combine robust test case management with automated testing can accelerate the testing process and get more out of their existing teams.”

Ranorex recently released Ranorex Studio 7.2 with new features including automation helpers, auto-rerun of failed test cases, the ability to replace expected images with actual images for image-based validations, and a ParallelRunner for WebDriver that allows users to run web tests in parallel on Selenium Grid endpoints.

“Automated testing is an integral part of many modern testing organizations, and Ranorex is a clear leader in that space,” said Wilson Warmack, general manager of Gurock. “Their low-code approach to supporting teams with different skills sets and responsibilities, combined with TestRail’s robust test case management and reporting capabilities, provides a well-rounded toolset that increases software quality testing accuracy and return on investment.”
