Global chimney/wall-mounted cooker hoods market

Chimney/wall-mounted cooker hoods are the most common type of cooker hoods that are found globally. This category of cooker hoods is named so as they are usually placed against the wall and consists of a ducting system that looks like a chimney. Chimney/wall-mounted cooker hoods come in two different types, namely, horizontal and vertical cooker hoods. Among these two types, the vertical-styled chimney/wall-mounted cooker hood is the latest type of chimney hood that can be positioned horizontally against the wall and outward from the base to the top of the hood.

Additionally, these cooker hoods are comparatively modern and take up less space than horizontal chimney/wall hoods. However, the horizontal chimney/wall cooker hoods are more efficient than the vertical ones.

“These cooker hoods also come with a canopy that spreads across the width of the cooker, aiding in covering the hob and enabling efficient ventilation. The wide range and consistent availability of this cooker hood make it one of the most preferred globally, hence is expected to grow positively during the forecast period,” says Narendra Nandaigari, a lead analyst at Technavio for home, kitchen, and large appliances research.

Global Island cooker hoods market

Island cooker hoods are usually fitted when the home has a cooking island installed in the kitchen. These systems are known to be the biggest and the most expensive type of cooker hoods in the market. Island cooker hoods are directly attached to the ceiling, hence the name. Consumers usually choose this type of cooker hood in the kitchen when they want to add a touch of professional glamour to their kitchens.

“Although this type of cooker hood enhances the look of the kitchen, the system requires plenty of space in the kitchen to accommodate one. The system also requires higher air flow rate to extract a good amount of air. Moreover, these systems are mostly available in the recycling technology as they are difficult to install, and the extraction capacity will most often be negatively influenced,” says Narendra.

Global downdraft cooker hoods market

Downdraft cooker hoods are usually invisible when not in use as they are hidden in the worktop. This type of cooker hood can be situated either behind or next to the hobs. When the kitchen is in use, the user can press a button to make it appear and initiate the extraction process. When the user is done with the cooking, a button can be pressed to make the cooker hood disappear into the worktop.

Currently, downdraft cooker hoods are also being launched with touch control, ducting out systems, and recycling technologies as well. This kind of cook hood is ideal for those who cook on an island but wish an integrated and minimalist look and are ready to pay a high price.
