NHK WORLD TV, Japan’s Sole Public English-Language Channel, Launches on NJTV

New Jersey Public Television (NJTV) Joins U.S. Public Broadcasters to Distribute Japanese Lifestyle and News Programming to the Southern New Jersey/Philadelphia Region

NEW JERSEY--()--NHK WORLD TV, the English-language channel operated by Japan’s sole public broadcaster, is proud to announce its partnership with NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, to serve the Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region. NJTV joins stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Denver, Orlando, Charlotte and Baltimore as NHK WORLD TV partners in distributing its hourly live news and Japanese lifestyle programming. NHK WORLD TV was previously broadcast in Philadelphia through WYBE.

NHK WORLD TV is a 24/7 public television network featuring original programming from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). NHK WORLD TV delivers a unique and diverse blend of programming featuring the hourly live international news from Tokyo and news bureaus around the globe and programs on Japanese society, politics, scientific advancement, culture, history, food, and lifestyle.

NHK WORLD TV officially launches on NJTV on October 1, 2017. Local viewers can watch on Comcast channels 265 and 1157 (channels 135 and 1157 in Princeton) or OTA channel 23.2 in southern New Jersey and Philadelphia. Featured NHK WORLD TV programs include “NHK NEWSLINE,” “Dining with the Chef” and “Journeys in Japan.” “NHK NEWSLINE” delivers the latest international news at the top of the hour, utilizing correspondents from around the world. “Dining with the Chef” showcases demonstrations of easy-to-make Japanese dishes by Chef Tatsuo Saito and cooking researcher, Rika Yukimasa. “Journeys in Japan” explores local cultures and lifestyles while offering travel hints rarely found in guidebooks.
