LONDON--()--Technavio’s latest report on the global construction dumper market provides an analysis on the most important trends expected to impact the market outlook from 2017-2021. Technavio defines an emerging trend as a factor that has the potential to significantly impact the market and contribute to its growth or decline.

Likhitha Bandla, a lead analyst from Technavio, specializing in research on construction sector, says, “The construction dumper market is expected to witness the highest demand from APAC, supported by government initiatives, cheap labor, changing policies on emissions, and favorable demographics.”

Rising urbanization has put a great strain on cities like Delhi, Shanghai, and Singapore. To reduce the stress on public transportation, efforts are underway to increase the efficiency of the transportation system by developing light rail transit (LRT), mass rapid transit (MRT), and waterways infrastructure.

The top three emerging trends driving the global construction dumper market according to Technavio heavy industry research analysts are:

Demand for fuel-efficient products

On August 16, 2016, the US EPA and the NHTSA released new guidelines for emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles such as construction dumpers to reduce carbon pollution and increase fuel efficiency. This will lead to the demand for fuel-efficient products in the global construction dumper market as manufacturing innovations will get a boost in the future.

The Paris Climate Change Agreement signed by 196 countries in December 2015 to control emissions of GHGs will further constrain the vendors in the global construction dumper market. Also, for end-users, the direct cost involved in the working of construction equipment is fuel usage in the construction equipment,” according to Likhitha.

Increase in safety features

Construction dumpers account for one-third of the construction accidents that result in serious injuries and death. To avoid such mishaps and enhance the safety features in construction dumpers, vendors such as Caterpillar have developed an in-cab driver safety system (DSS), which records the second-by-second fatigue and distraction data through a camera. DSS allows the behavior of the driver to be monitored by reading the operator's face and eyes and alerts the driver in case of fatigue and distraction.

The Caterpillar safety advisor monitors the data 24*7 at their fleet monitoring center, which provides an instant alert to the site manager in case of any potential fatigue that can lead to onsite accidents.

Rise in rental equipment

New construction equipment is very expensive and often small and medium enterprises find that renting equipment is a better solution. Construction equipment such as construction dumpers require large sums for down payment and the insurance, license fees, and taxes further add to the cost.

Construction is a seasonal activity, which requires construction equipment only for a limited period; once the requirement is fulfilled, the additional maintenance cost to keep the machinery in a sound working condition will result in extra expenses. Also, the choice of the machinery is critical to achieving productivity in operations, and any error in judgment will cause wastage of money.

The key vendors are as follows:

  • Caterpillar
  • J.C. Bamford Excavators
  • Komatsu
  • AB Volvo
