The Economist Events Hosts “The Business of Longevity: Innovation for an ageing world”

Global experts to gather in San Francisco on December 7, 2016, to discuss opportunities and innovations in ageing and longevity

SAN FRANCISCO--()--The Economist Events will bring together leading minds in innovation, healthcare, investment, technology, science, and policymaking, to discuss growing opportunities in ageing and longevity on December 7, 2016, in San Francisco. Called “The Business of Longevity: Innovation for an ageing world,” the event will look at the driving forces behind new business opportunities.

Growth in life expectancy, especially in countries with strong economies, is creating new business opportunities focused on the rapidly growing and lucrative ageing market. According to the World Economic Forum, by next year around 70 percent of disposable income in the U.S. will be held by people over 60. In addition, analysts expect breakthrough technologies, innovative services, and disruptive business models to generate $30 billion over the next five years.

“Longevity presents a massive growth opportunity for companies, however, questions remain about how to transform the traditionally altruistic field of ageing and care into commercially successful business models,” said Leila Berkeley, senior vice president, The Economist Events. “We are proud to be offering experts from a range of disciplines to speak to the opportunities within this growing market.”
