ALION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY APPRAISED AT CMMI LEVEL 3 FOR SOFTWARE AND SERVICES
Engineering and technology solutions firm one of just 16 in US to be rated at this level for CMMI Development and Services + Service System Development
Alion Science and Technology announced today that its software development and services practices have once again been appraised at Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) Level 3. The rating applies to CMMI Development (CMMI DEV) as well as CMMI Services + Service System Development (CMMI SVC + SSD), a distinction shared with only 15 other organizations in the US (as of November 2, 2016). Alion had previously been appraised at CMMI level 3 for CMMI DEV and CMMI SVC+SSD in 2013.
The appraisals, conducted by Software Quality Center, LLC., measured Alion’s modeling and simulation solutions ranging from interactive training to decision support, along with custom software and services that can enhance enterprise IT operations.
The CMMI appraisal process provides a standard industry benchmark to measure an organization’s capability and performance. The CMMI DEV model is used primarily by software engineering activities, while the CMMI SVC+SSD model is used by organizations that provide on-going services of a highly technical nature. Currently, approximately 625 U.S. organizations are appraised at Level 3 for CMMI DEV, while 38 are appraised at Level 3 for CMMI SVC + SSD (as of November 2, 2016).
Terri Spoonhour, Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Distributed Simulation Group, said that the appraisals validate Alion’s approach to solutions development. “Our customers throughout the Department of Defense have extremely complex requirements. Alion’s processes support robust and reliable products and services that ensure warfighters have the tools and training needed to succeed against current and emerging threats.”
“Alion is committed to continuous process and performance improvement to deliver the best value to our customers,” she explained. “We’re continually seeking inventive methods to streamline activities and eliminate bottle-necks. Plus, we bring lessons learned from over 20 years of developing and operating modeling and simulation technologies for DoD training to bear on every program.”
