HERNDON, Va.--()--NWFCU Foundation held its 2nd annual Neon Night Glow Run on Saturday, September 24th with over 225 runners for the 5K and 1-mile fun run races. The routes traversed parts of the WO&D and Runnymeade trails, ending back at Northwest Federal Credit Union for post-race entertainment, prizes for the best costumes and more.

The family-friendly event raised money for the Foundation’s annual Night of Magic, which gives critically ill children at INOVA Fairfax Children’s Hospital a night of music, entertainment, dancing and more with their families. Race participants included many Northwest Federal employees and their families who came out to support the Foundation.

“I sponsored a 4-person team thinking that my wife and I would participate and that I would have to twist my 16 year-old daughter's arm to come along. My 16 year-old asked her big sister to join her on the run and before I knew it, the team grew to 7! We had a blast!” said Northwest Federal’s VP of Human Resources, Lee Butler. “The girls ran, the parents strolled and my granddaughter and grandson were excited by all the "glow" fun and lasers! It was a beautiful evening, and well worth our time for such a worthy cause."

In addition to the race proceeds, the Herndon Police Department donated $500 to the cause. Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation, Alexzandra Shade, thanked the department for their support. “It means so much to the Foundation to have the Herndon Police Department’s assistance not just at our events, but also in our mission to strengthen the community through youth outreach programs.”
