UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Amblin Partners announced today that Chris Floyd has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Previously, he served as General Counsel and Head of Business Affairs, having joined the company (then DreamWorks Studios) in 2007.
In making the announcement, CEO Michael Wright and President and Co-CEO Jeff Small said, “Chris has been an integral part of our team for many years and his superb judgment and wise counsel have served us incredibly well. Floyd, a key member of the team that helped create Amblin Partners in December 2015, will continue to oversee Business and Legal Affairs, as well as all corporate legal matters, and will add oversight of International Distribution and various other operations of the company, reporting to Wright and Small.
Prior to DreamWorks Studios, Floyd was Senior Vice President of Business Affairs at Universal Pictures where he negotiated individual talent agreements, producer term deals and co-financing arrangements for the motion picture group. He also handled all business affairs activities for many on-lot producers including Playtone and Double Feature Films.
Before joining Universal, Floyd was Senior Vice President of Business Affairs for Paramount Pictures and also led the Business Affairs team acquiring films for Paramount Classics.
Floyd began his law career as an Associate Entertainment Litigator at Hill Wynne Troop & Meisinger. While there he represented major entertainment corporations including Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporations and Sony Pictures Entertainment. In 1993 he joined the Feature Legal Affairs Department of Walt Disney Motion Pictures before moving into Business Affairs in 1995. While at Disney he was the primary business affairs executive for on-lot producers and directors such as Larry Kasdan and Caravan Pictures.
He is a graduate of Northwestern University and Georgetown University Law Center.
