NAPA, Calif.--()--Cuvaison, located in the Carneros wine region of Napa Valley, today announced the Andy Warhol by Cuvaison Collection, a limited edition, wine box set featuring two estate wines labeled with rarely seen screen-prints commissioned by the winery from Andy Warhol in the early 1980’s.

Cuvaison collaborated with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, a not-for-profit leading funder of contemporary art, to create three limited edition Collector’s Box sets. The first Andy Warhol by Cuvaison Collection will be released this fall, featuring a 2014 Chardonnay from the Carneros Estate and a 2014 red Bordeaux blend from its Brandlin Vineyard on Mount Veeder – exclusively sourced from the best fruit of these two premiere vineyards. Releases in 2017 and 2018 will follow.

In the early 1980’s, Andy Warhol was commissioned by Alexander Tai Schmidheiny, owner of Cuvaison, to create artwork for a Cuvaison wine label. The results were numerous screen-prints envisioned utilizing Polaroid pictures of configured grapes in stunning patterns and vibrant colors. Artwork for each wine label in the Collection was hand-chosen by Cuvaison, The Andy Warhol Foundation and the Schmidheiny family.

“Cuvaison and The Andy Warhol Foundation have long discussed the opportunity to bring this unique, rarely seen body of work to the public. Now, nearly thirty-five years later, we are excited to share this collaboration with wine lovers and Warhol collectors alike,” Jay Schuppert, President of Cuvaison said. “All three installments of the Collection reflect Warhol’s signature Pop-Art style and bring the complete vision of the commissioned screen-prints to life on each wine bottle.”

To celebrate the launch of the Collection, Cuvaison will have original Warhol artwork on display in their tasting rooms’ intimate gallery via Christie’s New York. The installment of artwork includes 10 original Warhol screen-prints and is the first of its kind for Cuvaison. Visitors can view the exhibit by reservation starting September 15, 2016. For reservations, call (707) 942-2455.

“We are pleased to celebrate the artist’s enduring legacy through this unique Andy Warhol by Cuvaison Collection, which couples stunning works of art with ultra-premium, hand-crafted wines,” Michael Dayton Hermann of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts said. “The Foundation is delighted to acknowledge that proceeds it receives from Cuvaison will contribute generously to the Foundation’s endowment from which it distributes grants.”

With each vintage release, limited Collector’s Box sets will be available. Sets will retail for $250, and can be acquired at exclusive retail locations in the USA, through select international markets or direct from the winery; early access to each release will be made available through the Cuvaison wine club.
