PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With Oracle’s discontinued support for its Business Intelligence Discoverer, 35 percent of users are currently discussing Discoverer’s replacement and an additional 29 percent are planning a move within the next 12 months, according to a recent global survey from Excel4apps, a provider of best-in-class Microsoft Excel-based inquiry and reporting software for use with Oracle and other applications. An alternative that offers an easy transition to user-friendly, real-time reporting is Reports Wand. This Excel-based solution not only empowers users to independently create reports, but also offers simple Discoverer report conversion and consolidation.
The survey – and accompanying infographic – also reveals that 36 percent of respondents use up to 200 Discoverer reports in their organizations, with another 29 percent using 201-500 reports. This makes Reports Wand’s Discoverer Converter feature especially important for a smooth transition to a new reporting tool.
“Oracle’s recommendation to replace Discoverer with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) isn’t feasible for many companies in terms of complexity for users and poor suitability for real-time transactional reporting or ad-hoc analysis, as well as implementation and ongoing IT or consulting costs,” said Dean Jones, Global Vice President, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Solutions, for Excel4apps. “Reports Wand leverages user familiarity with Excel, and its Discoverer Converter feature can migrate hundreds of reports in minutes.”
In addition to the Discoverer Converter, Reports Wand expedites the transition from Discoverer with these features:
- Pre-built Reports – Reports Wand delivers out-of-the box capability using NoetixViews, a set of 1000-plus prebuilt reports that provide access to live, drillable data in Financials, Supply Chain, HR, Manufacturing, Service and other Oracle EBS modules.
- Report Analysis – Reports Wand helps identify the most-used, duplicate and obsolete Discoverer reports for analysis and consolidation before converting.
- Simple Installation and Startup – Reports Wand requires no additional data warehouse or hardware, and implementation takes only a few hours, providing fast time-to-value. Also, user training is minimal due to its Excel interface.
