SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apteligent, the leader in mobile app performance and user experience, today announces its most recent data report, “Android Manufacturer Edition.” The new report reviews various Android Manufacturers and highlights the best devices to purchase this holiday season based on their history of OS update speeds and crash rates. The report also reveals device fragmentation by usage as well as a regional breakdown of that fragmentation.
“The previous two reports, “Google I/O May 2016 Edition” and the “WWDC 2016 Edition,” analyzed the Android and iOS ecosystems, respectively,” said Andrew Levy, CSO and co-founder of Apteligent. “As such, we wanted to examine the Android manufacturers and dive into the OSs crash-rate, fragmentation and how quickly a device was updated, for an even more robust picture of customer experience.”
Key findings from the report include:
- Motorola pushes out Android updates faster than any other manufacturer
- For the largest apps, Sony devices have the lowest overall crash rate, with Motorola following
- Russia has the worst Android device fragmentation in the world: it takes 230 devices to reach the benchmark (90 percent of device usage).
- Based on the data collected in July 2016, Android purchases should either be the upcoming Nexus devices by HTC or a Motorola device this holiday season
