WINTER PARK, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In Massachusetts, one of the key goals guiding the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is to “use data and technology to support student performance.” Malden Public Schools in Malden, Mass. is leading the way to achieve this goal, becoming the first school district in the state to partner with Performance Matters™ and implement the Unify assessment platform.
Since purchasing Unify in September, Malden Public Schools has implemented the collaborative technology platform in all of its schools. Unify is the first social platform that allows educators to author and administer authentic assessments, analyze student data from multiple sources, and act on that information to improve teaching and learning.
“Previously we worked with a company that provided item banks and testing for us, but we needed more than that. We needed a partner who would work with us to support our students — not just create more work for us,” said Dr. David DeRuosi, Jr., superintendent of Malden Public Schools. “One of the key reasons we chose to work with Performance Matters is the people. They’ve been a true partner with us every step of the way and their customer service has been phenomenal. The Unify system is also very user friendly and we see great potential for its use district-wide.”
Malden Public Schools plans to use Unify to author and administer benchmark assessments, mid-term exams and finals. They will also use the online platform to analyze and act on the data, from the district level to the individual student level.
“One of the main benefits of Unify is that it puts information in the hands of the teachers,” said DeRuosi. “Teachers will be able to access data from our benchmarks, mid-terms and finals, and see it in an easy-to-understand format. They’ll also be able to create their own assessments for their classrooms. Most importantly, Unify will empower teachers to make instructional decisions based on real-time data, which will have a positive impact on student learning.”
