BDO Consulting Expands Forensic Technology Services

Appoints Adam Strayer as Technology-Assisted Review (TAR) Leader

NEW YORK--()--BDO Consulting, a division of BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations, today announced the appointment of Adam Strayer as Director, leading Technology-Assisted Review (TAR) for the Forensic Technology Services practice. A recognized industry leader, Mr. Strayer has nearly 15 years of experience working on large, data-intensive investigations, including investigating federal antitrust violations at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). In his new role, he will advise clients on strategic and tactical e-discovery matters, providing hands-on support for the use of data analytics and TAR.

"The deluge of corporate data is forcing organizations to look for sophisticated review strategies that can enable time and cost savings," said Carl W. Pergola, Executive Director of BDO Consulting. "Adam’s regulatory background and ability to apply advanced tools such as TAR, effectively and strategically, make him a valuable addition to the Forensic Technology Services practice."

"In many situations, TAR has become essential for zeroing in on potentially relevant data in an expeditious manner," said Stephanie Giammarco, Partner and Forensic Technology Services Practice Leader. "As TAR becomes more widely accepted, Adam’s depth of experience in this arena enables him to effectively guide clients by identifying and applying the appropriate e-discovery tools and methodologies to help navigate their specific e-discovery challenges."

"I am very pleased to be joining BDO’s high-caliber team of technology professionals," said Mr. Strayer. “As we enter an era of TAR 2.0, organizations need to move beyond using the basics of e-discovery technology to leverage its full potential. BDO’s commitment to providing best-in-class services and extensive global resources make it an ideal platform for assisting clients with a range of e-discovery projects."

An authority on e-discovery strategy and implementation, Mr. Strayer advises organizations and their counsel on all aspects of e-discovery and data management. He has extensive technical experience using TAR software and developing predictive coding workflows in complex e-discovery disputes for the nation’s top-grossing law firms and Fortune 500 organizations, recognizing the commitment and resources required to successfully implement these models. Prior to joining BDO, Mr. Strayer was a Senior Consultant at Kroll Ontrack, where he delivered client-tailored solutions to meet e-discovery needs, focusing on antitrust and Big Data projects. He also served as the Director of Advisory Services for CDS Legal, overseeing project management engagements on e-discovery strategy, analytic technologies and best practices.

Mr. Strayer began his career at the FTC in the Mergers II division, where he conducted investigative hearings, analyzed financial, market and economic data on antitrust matters, and presented recommendations to senior management and congressional staff. He received his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan.
