PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Independence Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE MKT: IRT) (“IRT”) today announced that on February 18, 2016 IRT sold a 222 unit apartment property located in Atlanta, Georgia for $18.0 million. IRT received net cash proceeds of approximately $10.0 million, after transaction costs and full repayment of the debt underlying the property. IRT will utilize the net cash proceeds to reduce its outstanding indebtedness. IRT expects to recognize a gain of approximately $2.4 million associated with the sale in the quarter ending March 31, 2016.
