Benefits of Installing Air Handling Units Infusing Growth into the Global Air Handling Unit Market, Says Technavio

LONDON--()--According to the latest market research report by Technavio, the global air handling unit market is expected to grow at a CAGR of close to 7% until 2020.

In this report, Technavio covers the present scenario and growth prospects of the global air handling unit market for 2016-2020. The market size has been calculated based on the revenue generated from the sales of air handling units (AHUs) across the globe classified by segments based on the capacity of these units, such as <5,000 m3/h, 5,000-15,000 m3/h, and >15,000 m3/h.

“Benefits such as increased productivity and health of the employees that accrue from using advanced air handling units, coupled with enhanced energy efficiency, are attracting commercial space owners and tenants to these products. Air handling units are an effective medium to manage rising energy prices, increase productivity, and reduce operating costs in commercial establishments. It can further help increase the value of assets and draw higher rental returns,” said Anju Ajaykumar, one of Technavio’s lead industry analysts for engineering tools.

“Employing high-performance air handling units results in significant energy savings. With the assistance of air handling units, commercial spaces can achieve a reduction of 10% in energy costs in a span of four to five years. The use of these units are anticipated to result in considerable energy, emissions, and cost savings of 10% to 40% over the forecast period,” added Anuj.

EMEA: largest region for the global air handling unit market

The air handling unit sales in the Middle East recorded a rise of approximately 9.5% in 2015. EU countries grew at nearly 4% during the same period. Germany, which is still the primary growth driver in the region, accounted for close to 18% of the sales in 2015 that amounted to about USD 477 million. We expect the market to show an annual growth rate of approximately 10% in Germany over the next four years and it is predicted to substantially buoy the market until 2020.

The less than 5,000 m3/h capacity air handling units will continue to dominate the market in EMEA with approximately 50% of the market share. However, the market for more than 15,000 m3/h capacity units is likely to grow at a faster rate owing to rising construction of large-sized buildings, especially in the residential sector.

Americas: second largest region for the global air handling unit market

The air handling unit market in the Americas is led by the US. Canada is also showing promising growth and is the largest market in the residential buildings sector in the Americas. Market trends indicate, energy-conscious consumers in Canada are increasingly taking to advanced air handling units in a bid to reduce energy consumption in the region.

The market is also likely to witness a high demand for air handling units from Latin America. The construction industry in this region is expected to show exponential growth over the next five years, especially in countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, triggering the need for energy-efficient air handling units.

Air handling unit market in APAC

The air handling unit market in APAC is expected to grow steadily during the forecast period, owing to increased investments in real estate. In conjunction with this development, the demand for air handling units in emerging economies such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines is projected to rise significantly until 2020, which will spur revenue growth for air handling unit manufacturers.

As the region is witnessing growing awareness about indoor air quality, construction of commercial and residential buildings in compliance with international standards is also similarly increasing. We anticipate that all these factors will boost market growth in APAC until 2020.
