DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/qbnkcm/supplying_the_bmw) has announced the addition of the "Supplying the BMW Group" report to their offering.

This is the new Supplying the BMW Group 2015 report, following on from the previous Supplying BMW report published in 2013. With 50% more content than the previous edition, this all-new material includes in-depth analysis of the Group's best-selling vehicles, most-used vehicle platforms, global manufacturing footprint, purchasing and supply, quality and technology.

Since publication of the earlier report, the BMW Group has undergone some major expansion in terms of global vehicle production, with investment made to increase capacity at its plants in Leipzig, Germany and Spartanburg South Carolina. In addition, the Group has brought new plants online in Brazil and China, with the latter featuring the first BMW engine production facility located outside Germany.

This expansion has had a considerable impact on supply side activities, with issues related to use of local and global suppliers and increased part volumes, both of which are covered extensively in this new material. In addition, BMW has introduced a series of new technologies, many of which are produced with the support of the supply base. The report outlines these developments and the related impact on suppliers.

BMW is continuing to roll out an increasing number of models with plug-in hybrid powertrains and it is possible that these could be used across the Group brands of Mini and Rolls-Royce. This report takes an in-depth look at the technologies supporting these developments, including the new eight-speed plug-in hybrid transmission from ZF Friedrichshafen which has had its first application in the BMW X5 xDrive40e. In addition, the report includes an interview with Franz Linner, vice-president BMW Supplier Network Americas, who talks about how regional Purchasing is shared between the Spartanburg plant and BMW offices in Mexico.
