Arcadia Healthcare Solutions Partners with the Value Care Alliance to Build Data Asset for Shared Risk Contracts in Connecticut

Aggregation of claims and Electronic Health Record data from five hospitals in the Arcadia Analytics platform to drive financial performance and quality outcomes

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--Arcadia Healthcare Solutions, a leading Electronic Health Record (“EHR”) data aggregation and analytics technology solutions provider for health systems, independent provider groups, Accountable Care Organizations (“ACO”), and health plans, today announced a partnership with the Value Care Alliance (“VCA”), an alliance of seven independent Connecticut healthcare organizations formed in December, 2013. Together, Arcadia and the VCA will deploy the Arcadia Analytics platform to all member hospitals, unifying claims data from local and national health plans, hospital and ambulatory EHRs, and other sources to support real-time analytics for shared-risk contract performance.

The VCA member hospitals include Griffin Hospital, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Lawrence and Memorial Health System, Western Connecticut Health Network (Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital and Norwalk Hospital), and Middlesex Hospital. “Our members are bringing together their collective intellectual and clinical resources to implement innovative initiatives focused on providing cost effective care for patients, improving access, and improving quality of care,” said Patrick Charmel, Chairman of the VCA and Chief Executive Officer for Griffin Hospital, a member of the Value Care Alliance. “After a thorough review of the market, we selected Arcadia as the partner who could provide the highest quality data asset most quickly, along with actionable analytics for using the data effectively in a value-based world.”

The Arcadia Analytics platform will serve as a central utility to the VCA and its members. Dashboard capabilities will be used to compare cost, quality and efficiency metrics at the aggregate and individual hospital level, allowing VCA members to identify and share best practices between members. The VCA will leverage Arcadia Analytics for analysis and reporting on the aggregated data asset related to Member Attribution, System Leakage, Performance Management, Utilization and Medical Expense. Additionally, capabilities supporting identification and closure of Care Gaps, prospective Risk Management, and Patient Engagement are being deployed and made available for use by each member hospital.

“All provider entities operating under value-based contracts require a mechanism to consume, normalize, and distribute claims and eligibility information from health plans,” said Dr. Richard Parker, Chief Medical Officer of Arcadia and former leader of a leading Pioneer Accountable Care Organization. “When that data is coupled with data directly from the EHRs of hospitals and ambulatory clinics, those providers have a much greater ability to drive effective interventions and improve the efficiency of care being delivered, which is critical when risk is being moved from the health plans to the providers themselves.”
