SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--()--John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts (JQH) and Convoy of Hope today announced their new national philanthropic partnership at an event at JQH’s University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield, Mo. Called JQH’s Legacy of Giving, the joint cause initiative will focus on feeding the world’s hungry children and tackling systemic poverty in the United States and globally, which are at the heart of Convoy of Hope’s mission since it was established more than 20 years ago. JQH CEO Jacquie Dowdy and Convoy of Hope Co-Founder Dave Donaldson made the announcement at the launch event. Springfield, Mo.-based JQH is a leading private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the United States.

JQH’s Legacy of Giving charitable partnership enables the award-winning hospitality company’s more than 6,500 passionate associates at JQH’s corporate headquarters and nearly 70 hotels in 24 states the opportunity to personally get involved in a centralized giving initiative.

“JQH’s formalized collaboration with Convoy of Hope aligns with our company’s pillar of community service established by John Q. Hammons and his wife, Juanita, more than 50 years ago,” Dowdy said. “JQH’s Legacy of Giving will also complement the various cause-related opportunities our hotels currently participate in at the local level across the country.”

Dowdy continued, “As community neighbors, JQH has had the opportunity to team up with Convoy of Hope on select goodwill projects over the years, and now JQH’s Legacy of Giving initiative allows for enhanced collaboration to affect millions of lives both in the U.S. and globally.”

JQH and Convoy of Hope have a history of successfully cooperating at the regional level, working side by side on disaster relief efforts in Joplin, Mo.; at Springfield Community Events attended by hundreds of people in need; at Hands of Hope food-packing sessions; and on a fund-raising concert at the Tower Club in Springfield with Grammy-nominated musical artist Jim Brickman; among other efforts.

Together Making an Impact

Convoy of Hope, a recipient of the prestigious Four Star Charity Award from Charity Navigator, has served more than 70 million people since the faith-based organization was formed in 1994. Convoy of Hope’s Donaldson reinforced that even a donation of $10 a month can make a difference, such as to feed a child for an entire month internationally or to provide $100 in food, goods and services to a family in need in the United States.

“Every dollar counts as we work with potentially thousands of JQH employees to not only provide nutritious food, but to ensure futures,” Donaldson said.

In addition to financial support through JQH’s Legacy of Giving, JQH employees can get involved in various volunteer-supported activities hosted by Convoy of Hope that benefit people in need. Community Events and food-packing sessions are a couple of examples of activities that will take place in select cities across the country.
