PLANO, Texas--()--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) recently announced recipients of its 2015 Tyler Public Sector Excellence awards for iasWorld® and Orion™ appraisal and tax administration software.

Tyler’s Excellence Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate excellence in deploying Tyler software in novel and impactful ways that extend best practices. A panel of Tyler experts evaluated award submissions and entries were judged on business value, maturity, innovation and relevance to other public sector organizations. Additional criteria met by award winners included:

  • Creating a unique process that utilizes a Tyler application
  • Realizing significant savings after implementing a Tyler product
  • Increasing staff productivity by implementing a Tyler product
  • Empowering employees, citizens or vendors

New Mexico’s Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office was awarded for eliminating manual data entry processes and increasing participation filing rates with iasWorld eFile™, an electronic filing add-on module of the iasWorld CAMA™ (computer-assisted mass appraisal) solution. Once implemented, the county reported a 35 percent increase in taxable business-equipment report filings and reduced one day’s work to one hour, allowing staff to focus on data quality. Bernalillo County is home to Albuquerque, the state’s most populous city, and had more than 274,000 properties on the county’s 2014 assessment roll.

Williamson Central Appraisal District (WCAD) in Georgetown, Texas, used Orion in an innovative way for online homestead exemption filing. WCAD moved its cumbersome paper application to an online environment, saving more than three minutes per submission and $3,300 in related filing costs. Tasks, such as sorting through mailed submissions, scanning applications to Orion, and tracking and managing paper were all greatly reduced, which contributed to the efficiencies that made online homestead exemption filing a success. Georgetown had 192,000 properties on its 2014 assessment roll.

“Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office and the Williamson Central Appraisal District were selected for Tyler’s Public Sector Excellence Awards because they used technology to improve customer service and create operational efficiencies,” said Andrew D. Teed, president of Tyler’s Appraisal & Tax Division. “We’re pleased to offer our yearly user conference as a way for our forward-thinking clients to share best practices with their public sector peers. Congratulations again to Bernalillo County and Williamson Central Appraisal District for their successes.”
