SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StubHub, the world’s largest ticket marketplace, today announced the release of its Apple Watch application that will give users the ability to discover nearby events and gain access to their purchased events with just the flick of a wrist. Embracing the best of the new Watch OS experience, the StubHub app was designed with two key factors in mind -- real-time discovery and mobile ticketing.
Through StubHub’s “Nearby Events” feature, fans can easily discover which events are happening within a certain radius and then buy tickets using their iPhone. Filtered by proximity as well as time, users will be able to see the top 10 events occurring during the next three days and set reminders to purchase before showtime. The Watch also offers directions through Apple Maps for both purchased and researched events. Additionally, to create an even more personalized discovery experience, users can also flag their favorite venues on their phones to set up a geofence around the area and receive immediate notifications on their Watch about upcoming events as they pass by.
Once a ticket has been purchased, the app utilizes Apple Watch’s new “Glance” feature, providing the fan with a live countdown until their next event to further drive excitement. And, when the user actually arrives to the venue, the StubHub app provides a more seamless entry where available with the mobile ticket’s barcode or QR code being available via the Watch app.
“When conceptualizing our Apple Watch app, we strived to design a refined version of StubHub that would create a more convenient process for fans who love to attend sports events and concerts,” said Parag Vaish, Head of Mobile at StubHub. “The StubHub Watch OS app will not only create a new mobile ticketing experience for fans who have purchased tickets through our marketplace, but will now also help fans to more easily discover and plan their future entertainment options.”
The StubHub Watch OS app is available for download on the Apple Watch April 24 at www.stubhub.com/watch.
