MANNHEIM, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has signed a Teaming Agreement with HOCHTIEF Infrastructure GmbH and HOCHTIEF Engineering GmbH to offer integrated decommissioning, decontamination and remediation (DD&R) services for nuclear power plants.
German nuclear power companies will benefit from a one-stop supplier approach with this new partnership. Westinghouse brings its safety-focused nuclear expertise and experience in decommissioning, decontamination, remediation, segmentation and waste-handling. HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and HOCHTIEF Engineering offer know-how in licensing, civil engineering and construction of interim storage. Together, the two will provide a broad range of integrated services to meet the needs of nuclear plants that are coming off-line.

A number of nuclear power plants across Germany will need to be decommissioned and dismantled in the next 15 to 20 years due to national policy decisions that have shortened their expected operation. Eight nuclear reactors were permanently shut down in March 2011, and 17 are planned to be phased out by 2022.
