PROVO, Utah--()--Vivint, a leading provider of smart home technology, is spreading cheer to more than 3,000 children throughout North America by stepping in for Santa this holiday season.

Through the Vivint Gives Back program, the company’s charitable giving foundation, Vivint employees have the opportunity to donate both time and money to the Sub for Santa program. More than 1,300 Vivint employees across the nation helped shop, wrap and deliver gifts this year. Each participating employee received a wish list for a particular child to select personalized gifts, including toys, clothing and educational supplies.

“The Sub for Santa program remains a favorite for Vivint employees,” said Holly Mero-Bench, director of the Vivint Gives Back program. “It’s a rewarding opportunity for our employees and their families to provide these much-needed Christmas gifts, and it really ends up making everyone’s holiday season a bit brighter.”

Employees gave more than $112,000 from their individual paychecks, and Vivint corporate matched the employee donation dollar-for-dollar for a total contribution of $224,000 to fund this nationwide holiday effort. In Utah, employees delivered gifts to more than 1,000 students at Lincoln and Roosevelt Elementary schools, 98 percent of whom live below the poverty threshold.

“The excitement building over the last few weeks has been tangible, and our children’s faces glow when they talk about Vivint,” said Principal Afton Lambson of Lincoln Elementary School. “Those who have donated of their means or have shopped for and wrapped gifts will never know just how much this means to our students and their families.”

This year marks Vivint’s seventh annual Sub for Santa event. Since the program’s inception, the number of children assisted has tripled. The 3,000 kids who benefit from the program this year are found throughout 125 locations in North America where Vivint employees work.
