WhereScape Announces Support for Teradata® QueryGrid™

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--WhereScape, a provider of automation software for modeling, building and extending data warehouses and analytic systems, announced today support for Teradata® QueryGrid™, from Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the big data analytics and marketing applications company. Teradata QueryGrid enables Teradata Database users to read and join data from source systems, such as an Oracle database, Hadoop, Teradata Aster database or another Teradata Database, with data stored in a Teradata integrated data warehouse, without requiring data to be replicated into the Teradata Database. The announcement was made at the Teradata 2014 PARTNERS Conference, where WhereScape is demonstrating its Teradata-specific data warehouse modeling and development solutions in booth #209.

“Companies don’t want to duplicate or move data, and they shouldn’t have to consider whether that information is sitting inside a data warehouse, Hadoop or some other analytical engine or data source,” said Chris Twogood, vice president of product and services marketing, Teradata. “QueryGrid gives them a transparent way to optimize the power of different technologies within a data fabric, and now WhereScape can help them develop and deploy this solution.”

Teradata QueryGrid orchestrates a single Teradata Database query across multiple data sources and processing engines. With bi-directional data movement and query push-down capability, the Teradata Database can send part of a query with qualification predicates to Oracle, for example. Only the desired data is returned to the Teradata warehouse for processing together with data stored in it. Data is moved by QueryGrid without going through the client or ETL server.

“I'm impressed with the capabilities of Teradata QueryGrid,” said Jason Laws, WhereScape vice president of technical marketing. “QueryGrid enables users to quickly move data from Oracle to Teradata without using a data mover. Our extensive testing has shown that QueryGrid is a stable, fast method to move data between Oracle and Teradata.”

WhereScape RED for Teradata

WhereScape RED builds native objects optimized for the Teradata database and the Teradata Aster analytic appliance. WhereScape RED enables practitioners to access source data from multiple environments, create procedural code, scripts, and tables, build cubes, schedule updates, and generate documentation in HTML format, all while maintaining existing BI front-end compatibility. WhereScape RED requires fewer resources to model, build and deploy a Teradata data warehouse or analytic platform, creating a simplified infrastructure and dramatically reducing total cost of ownership.
