The competition is fierce as getAbstract assesses more than 10,000 titles in the following categories: management, strategy, sales and marketing, human resources, economics, politics, finance and career development.

“I’m still shocked to see my own book on the shelf -- it took 25 years to get there. There’s no thrill greater than the day of my wedding, day my daughter was born, or the day I first walked into my local bookstore and there it was; I did it…this was a lifelong dream and journey for me, and to receive recognition from getAbstract on my first book…I’m floored,” says Christopher Surdak, author of Data Crush. “Just the nomination has changed my life dramatically.”

“We are thrilled to acknowledge the finest minds and authors in the business world with this esteemed award. There are so many spectacular books that bring a unique perspective to readers, and it is our duty to ensure these works are appreciated and shared,” says Thomas Bergen, CEO of getAbstract. “The longevity of our International Book Award is due to our team of literary experts who are able to critically assess the latest books in the marketplace, and also due to the authors and publishers who work tirelessly to capture and disseminate ideas that can change the way we live, the way we do business, and the way we interact with each other.”

The four winners were chosen out of ten finalists that included Dan Ward, Phil Rosenzweig, George Soros, Martin Eppler, Meinhard Miegel, and Roman Maria Koidl.
